David Brooks predicts what will "bring down" the Republican party. |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 11:02 PM by bobweaver
On the "News Hour with Jim Lehrer," of 1/7/2005, in the conversation segment with Jim Lehrer, David Brooks and Mark Shields. David Brooks (the token "right" viewpoint) stated what he believes will "bring down" the Republican party: corruption.
And after thinking about it, I would agree with him - there are possiblities galore - if we can find a violation and make it stick, it is quite possible.

4. Well...they have been wallowing in their own shit and vomit so long that |
|
they smell worse than all the dead tsunami victims together. And now they are all over there taking photo ops with the corpses and devastation. Their new 911 opportunity.
We don't have enough Dems in power and with the backbone to take them down but they will do it to themselves.
Armstrong Williams might be the start of the crack in the volcano.

13. The problem with that assertion is the hurdle |
|
of the One Party State. In BushWorld there will be no one that can prosecute Bush corruption nor any court that will hear the complaint.
See, Brooks can make these phony assertions knowing that they will never go anywhere and by making them it makes him appear "rational."
Working the system. Brooks suks

5. Note to Brooks: Duh!!! Why did it take you so long to figure that out? |
|
Could it be the headlines from the last coupla weeks?
We've been reading the nuances & handwriting on the wall for quite a long time.
Regardless of his timing, for once I'm agreeing with a neocon about something.

|
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 11:18 PM by stopbush
He has no TV presence and his NY Times columns are meandering, uniformed, sophomoric, imbecilic wastes of newsprint.
Sorry, but I couldn't remember the entire Chevy Chase rant from Xmas Vacation or I would have thrown in a few more adjectives.
On edit: BTW, how does a "corrupt" administration "win" elections on moral issues? Simple. With corrupt hacks like David Brooks carrying their lying corrupt water for them.

They are so full of themselves and their power that they will step in it big time, or get caught at something they've already done.

They've been getting away with so much for so long, it is an entitlement at this point. Republicans do not get arrested or proscecuted, that only happens to Dems and Dem supporters. One only has to look as far as Martha Stewart vs. Ken Lay. Martha, Dem contributer, in Prison for what? Not insider trading, but taking a tip that netted her $60k. Ken Lay, GOP contributor, not even brought to trial, made millions on illegal accounting practices that cost many many people their jobs and their retirement security.

200 years from now?
With every new corrupt act -- we are told that THIS is going to bring bushie down.
This is the most corrupt administration IN THE HISTORY of the US.
The teapot Dome scandal was nothing compared to all the corruption that happened in year one of the bushie administration.
WHEN will corruption bring this gang of crooks, liars, thieves and murders DOWN?
I'll believe it when it happens.

Every time I hear about G.Brish & Co being tried for war crimes, I get hopeful that those Nazis will soon be gone, but then nothing happens and I'm depressed until someone starts another move to prosecute them at The World Court in Belgium.:-(

14. If We Can "FIND" A Violation? |
|
Shit, do you know how we know the Repunks circa 2005 are the MOST. CORRUPT. PARTY. EVER?
They have pulses.
Pick a branch. Any branch. It's not hard to find corruption with these bastards. The problem is that the lapdog media's so entrhalled by Dear Leader that they don't want to touch any of them for fear he'll stop calling them nicknames.
Find a way to help the media grow a pair and THEN we might discuss bringing down the House of Bush (and the Repunks who love him, which is ALL OF THEM, as evidenced by yesterday's acclamations).

18. Impunity Syndrome has replaced Teflon President, thx to the MSM. |
|
In fascism, or 'corporatism' to use Mussolini's word, CORRUPTION IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF GOVERNMENT-THE ALLIANCE OF BUSINESS AND THE STATE.
You can't have 'corruption' when that is what the government is based on. It is 'pure' in its fascism, not 'corrupt.'
Meaning 'anything goes' is now the name of the game. SO...they win. But they are still assholes.

Chimp and Cheney could be caught on camera arranging a murder for hire and the media would find a way to put a positive spin on it. The rubber stamp repukes in Congress would blame Clinton and the whole tawdry episode would soon be forgotten. They are untouchable.

it's a problem in every party, hell in every country too. But it is on an individual basis. There are plenty of corrupt Democrats. City governments are notorious for it.
