Is Powell finally beginning to speak for himself? |
|
NBC News tonight showed a clip of an interview with Powell today where he said that a "low voter turn-out could be seen as a victory for the insurgents."
Doesn't sound much like toeing the Party line....
Further reporting by anchor said that the White House is saying that even if everyone does not vote, each groups will be "given" a seat in the government. HUH?

1. What insurgents? They're defending their own country from |

a group of people who, in the first place, had no merit to stomp their way in!

Is he finally emerging from the GOP rectum?

I've been blasted for saying this before, but I still have faith in Powell. Despite his serious failings earlier in his career, he was usually the voice of reason in the Bush admin. He just didn't seem to have the power to stand up against all of them. Once he is out of office, or perhaps even before, he can use his credibility with most of those on the right and the remaining few on the left to wake the American public up to reality. I hope he does. It could be his redemption. And ours.

9. The problem with trusting him is that he |
|
is such a "good soldier." He takes "marching orders" from the top and follows them without deviation. I just wonder how much truth he will tell after he severs relations with the current administration? We have to remember that he is friends with Bush, Sr. and not too likely to tell too much.

8. Powell is going to retire |
|
and he will be "doing a book" no doubt, and giving speeches at a hefty clip. He has to say something in his book that will make it appear that over the years he "served" his master, and lied before the UN and generally did nothing any self respecting man or woman would do to extricate himself from a fascist regime, is in reality, "honorable"
This is the way he plays the game and how he emerges as the one with the sober, somber, reality, outlook amidst extremists.
It will not work much for me. He is severely compromised by his lying for Bush, and his stalwart insistence in staying with a decrepit maniac regime.

12. Maybe the problem is that Bowel |
|
is a military man. They're actually trained to respect authority, to be a "team" player, to not upset the apple cart. A rogue is not going to get far in the military. It's only the butt-kissers that get promoted.
So maybe it's not in his nature to be an independent player. Maybe that's why they picked him.
Who knows. Either way, he's a liar, a sell-out and a cookie.

NBC News tonight showed a clip of an interview with Powell today where he said that a "low voter turn-out could be seen as a victory for the insurgents."
This could read: "low voter turn-out could be seen as a victory for the Republicans."
Supression at the polls, supression in the voter rolls, supression by challenging voters and supression by not providing an adequate amount of voting machines.
