Usama bin Laden offers to give up in return for release of Saddam Hussein
Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 05:22 PM by Cronus Protagonist
This is a hypothetical question.

Do we take the offer? I say yes. What do you think?

1. Damn right.
I needed all of five seconds to come to that conclusion.

Here's a tougher question. Let's assume that the trade happens.

Do we complain if our government wants to torture bin Laden for information? Or do we make an exception for bin Laden? ;)

15. NO
We NEVER torture anybody, for any reason, under any circumstances. Principles arent for when its easy they are for when its hard. If you are willing to torture anyone you are willing to lose your own humanity for a reason. Never. What we do is NEVER about who they are or what they did, its about who WE are and what WE do. We dont surrender OUR humanity because someone else has surrendered theirs. Never, I guess by now you see I feel passionatly about this

2. Here's another question:
Even if bin Laden did make the offer, how badly would Bush and Condi fu*k it up?

3. Hahaha I think the Bush administration would DECLINE the offer
After all, Usama is Bush's counterpart in the combined extended Bush/bib Laden family. He wouldn't want to have to put bin Laden, effectively his own cousin, in jail.

4. No, Osama is the bogeyman they need to continue their shit.
They would never remove the carrot they dangle in front of the people to keep them walking.

5. Exactly. That's because the whole UBL/9/11 thing is bogus
They don't WANT to catch the alleged perpetrators. They're too useful for them.

I don't think he's ours to trade

8. hahaha Surely you don't think "the Iraqis" are sovereign?
I haven't met any lefty who fell for that piece of blatant propaganda. I guess it takes all types to make a village. I suppose you also think that there's going to be fair elections in Iraq as well?

12. I suppose you you could have put Iraqis in commas
like thus: "Iraqis". I don't think even "puppet regime" is apt to describe their puppet regime the US has set up in Baghdad.

9. This is beyond hypothetical.
No matter how you try to couch it, this simply isn't going to happen. Bin Laden and Saddam have nothing at all to do with each other. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Plus, no matter what, they're not going to release Saddam. Not even serious nuclear threat would work.

Really.

14. Now that would be great
Call their bluff. Capturing Bin Laden and making real headway on terrorism is the last thing the neocons want to do. If the boogeyman is eliminated, and people exhale, the neocons have lost some of their fear based control of the American people through their propaganda and lies.

Sounds like a MUCH better hypothetical to me.
