Remember Nixon's Checker speech about Pat's "Republican" cloth coat?
No such thing anymore. The inaugural balls were described as the night of the "long fur coats." (and cowboy boots and cowboy hats)

1. But you won't see Laura Bush in fur, I'll bet.

Which is odd, considering how little they care what anyone thinks. If I had her money, I'd wear full-length sable. Fur IS the best in cold weather!

Her evening ensemble cost somewhere around $20,000 according to the fashion mavens.
