I Can See Why The Republicans Have The Lock On The Goober Vote...
Watching these discussions on C-Span I would say a person's on crack if they think we can "outgoober" this group...

4. we can win rural voters
when we try to. We didn't even compete in rural areas and that was a mistake.

7. Appealing To Rural Voters And Winning The Votes Of Folks
Who Think The Thoughts Of Sam Brownshirt are worthy are two different things...

Yes, I want to reach out to persuadables but I don't include goobers in the persuadable category...

9. I misread
what your comments were about. I didn't realize it was about Republican politicians.

Still, some people that vote for these folks can be won to our side. We have to make the effort and stop viewing them as flyover territory.

11. I live in a rural area and it would be hard to win the vote of my
neighbors.

Being right wing is a association thing with them. It is used to identify with each other, to get acceptance.

If I'd say to a guy around here that Kerry was a traitor I'd get approval and acceptance. If I'd say Bush is an asshole I'd lose their approval. It doesn't matter to them what the real truth is, the truth is what the majority of them say it is. And the majority will say what ever gets them approval. I don't think they even go any farther than that in their political thinking. If you could prove to them that they have the wrong idea they wouldn't want to you to do it. They are safe in their mindset. There is a comfort being accepted and respected and to get that they say what gets them the approval.

These are good people in most ways. They would help you out in a minute but don't show them that you are liberal or not a true believer.

12. We win a few more states if we win one more out of ten votes
We need to find who is persuadable and work on those who are. Female rural voters were ripe for the taking and we didn't do anything to appeal to them.

15. You are describing sheep. I am sure they are good people but they are
behaving as if in a herd. I think humans do herd more in uncertain and fearful times. Were they this bad before 9/11?

5. I'm about as southern as you can get and I'm ashamed
of these people. Jeff Sessions is a knuckel dragging, ignorant, lying, redneck, religous fruitacake piece of garbage. Just my opinion though.

I thought the post was referring to regular folk, not citizens. Sorry for the confusion.
