Man killed on 9/11 issued green card---3.5 yrs later

http://nypost.com/commentary/38838.htm

January 26, 2005 -- DO YOU remember when immigration officials sent out flight-school visa-ap proval notices for two of the 9/11 hijackers — six months after they had committed their suicide attacks on America?

President Bush proclaimed his outrage, four federal immigration officials were reassigned, and Washington vowed that such embarrassing bureaucratic snafus would never happen again. I'm sorry to report that it has, in fact, happened again.

On Jan. 15, immigration officials sent a notice to Eugueni Kniazev of Brooklyn. The letter informs Kniazev, a Siberian immigrant, that he is now "deemed to be a lawful permanent resident of the United States." The notice directs Kniazev to obtain a new alien registration receipt card (a "green card"), and instructs him to appear at the immigration office at 26 Federal Plaza with his passport and three recent photos.

But Eugueni Kniazev won't be appearing at Federal Plaza. He won't be traveling anywhere. Kniazev, 47, was an employee of Windows on the World on the 107th floor of the North Tower. He was murdered in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

2. Unfortunately, with shrub, "new" doesn't mean "better"...
when it comes to him putting these replacement fools into offices/jobs. Scary thing is, this story makes you wonder what ELSE are they letting fall thru the cracks, who are they going to blame it on, and what will the death toll be because of it??

4. What a sad story.
One of the most haunting things I've read in the past few years was an article in the now defunct Talk magazine about the last day of Windows on the World. Many of the people working there that morning were immigrants. One guy's wife was about to give birth to their child. Khami and Roshan Singh (I think I've got the names right), a brother and sister, were on the same shift for once, and so their mother lost two children in one horrible morning.

May they all rest in peace.
