DNC chair: We don't have to wait until Feb. 12 to find out who gets it |
|
Just heard the president of the State Dem chairs, Mark Brewer, on C-SPAN. Tomorrow those folks, approximately 100 of them, are going to endorse one of the candidates. I thought it was pretty clear from Mr. Brewer's remarks that he doesn't support Dean. He repeatedly said that there is no front runner and that the race was wide open.
I know that a few state chairs have already endorsed Dean, so it won't be all of them, but Brewer sounded pretty confident that the remainder of them are going to endorse in concert. Who will they endorse, anyone have any guesses? I'm going to guess that they'll endorse Rosenberg. I can live with that, though I'm really sick of this ABD. If they endorse Frost, well, I'll be disgusted. I started out neutral on Frost, but I've been put off by his whiny tone. If they endorse Rosenberg, what will labor do? Rumors have it that they're leaning towards Frost.

2. I think if Frost gets it |

there will be a major uproar. Or Roemer. I think a lot of Dean backers are like me and could live with Rosenberg, but I sure could be wrong.

But most of these republican lite crones (DLC) aren't being paid to win ONLY to placate the liberal masses.
No, they'll probably have to take another figuratively baseball bat to the head (leadership of the democratic party) before they listen to their base of liberal and progressive democrats.
Like many others, I no longer identify with the DLC hijacked democratic party.

I just think he could use some more 'seasoning'. Frost is the guy who's really bugging me. It's not the ads he ran featuring bush, it's his whining over the last week, about being picked on. If he can't shrug off the heat of the race, he shouldn't be chair.

9. He says the race is wide open |
|
yet he's confident they're going to endorse "in concert."
Does that mean they all endorse the same candidate or will they just harmonize?

12. There hold on power is tenuous, they have no real following |
|
of their own. Dean is a charismatic leader with his own political standing, if he gets power in the national party, he's going to can their sorry asses. I would be surprised if the majority of the state party "leaders" did not attack Dean, the question is will the rank-n-file in the state parties follow their "leaders" or vote for change?

16. Well, I just got an appeal from Kennedy and I am in PA |
|
and I wondered if Kennedy was the man whose task is to court the Progressive vote...
He talks the talk, but he was instrumental in backing Kerry. If they don't welcome Dean into the party machine and run Clinton, with the media and political class echoing DLC triangulating talking points, it would be a poor investment for the future.

Deal were made so the gravy train by corporate interests for taking dives remain. Hush money, bribes, and kick-backs to the DEAD WOOD in the party.

Plenty of dems got riled over the war, or did you miss the demonstrations against it, as well as the demonstration this summer in NY, which was fueled by anti-war sentiment. One of my Senators was quoted today as saying he is bitterly opposed to the war. (OK, Jeffords is an Independent, but he might as well be a dem)

23. How was Jeffords a cheerleader? |
|
He voted against the war. So did Leahy. Anytime either of them are on the VPR call in program, they strongly denounce the war. Jeffords voted against Rice. I wish Leahy had, but as Judiciary ranking member, he's leading the fight against torture man Al. If you want to see a damning and eloquent argument against the war read Leahy's speech given in the Senate just before the vote on the IWR.
