Does that mean that Iraq which really has one-man, one-vote is more of a democracy than the US?

2. Similarly....
Somebody put an oped in the Chicago Tribune suggesting that US occupation be put to a referendum---in Iraq. Not here, oh, no, but in Iraq.

3. Oh, hell. The rightwingnuts ran and won a War of Words . . .
Oh, hell. The rightwingnuts ran and won on a War of Words . . . twisted words leaving little or no meaning to their message. And it continues. As does their own psychological projection upon all of America.

We all know that America is both a democracy and a republic. Twist it one way on one day then the other way on another day. So much for Republican hypocrisy.

The irony stinks as does the party!

4. Techinically we are a republic..

Technically we are a constitutional republic (CIA World Factbook), although we have a "strong democratic tradition" as the basis of our government.

5. Uummmmm, you are attempting to "split hairs," i.e.,
word usage with quasi-legal significance with an attorney? LOL . . . I stand by my original statement (excerpted here): "America is both a democracy and a republic" including my further assertions that the Republican Party is hypocritical with its twisted word usage.

BTW, any authoritive American dictionary, as well as that CIA website agrees with my assertions. And have a lovely day!

6. Like most things, we are a democracy when it serves their purposes
and a Republic when THAT serves their purposes.
