being anti-torture is overwhelmingly a value of the democratic party!

The republicans almost exclusively own the pro-torture position.

13. Good for Jeffords, bad for us.
How pathetic is the state of this party when a former Republican is voting consistently with REAL American values and some "Democrats" refuse to do so? FUCK YOU Holy Joe, Salazar, Landrieu and whomever else betrayed their country today.

2. Indeed.
And a majority of Democrats did vote no. The votes weren't there for a fillibuster anyway. It's fine to criticize the mee too Democrats who voted yes, but I still think that Republicans who all voted for him deserve even more criticism.

5. I am still confused by Spector's "bi-partisan" support statement...
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 05:25 PM by coreystone
Democrats can be, but, Republican's can't be "bi-partisan". Though, personally, I doubt that most of the the Dems that voted Yes were not necessarily concerned about being "bi-partisan", as opposed to the entire cast of Republicans who would have a difficult time pronouncing it!

:-(

7. Let's not overlook what's really important
Who were the dems that voted for gonzalez? To me, that is a critical issue, they should be the recipients of some email rants!

18. Please, please check out McCain's record, he is not a friend of Dems
and ever since he started stumping for bush he has really sold out. Today he voted for Gonzales and he said in an interview yesterday that was shown on c-span, just spur of the moment in the hall of the Senate, he supports private accounts, thinks they are a great idea.

McCain is not a friend to us.

9. that is a good way to frame this- but no free passes for Pro-Bush DEMS.
We need to keep on red-assing the pro-torture, pro-lying criminal DEMS.

11. Yup, the Republicans OWN the PRO-TORTURE position.
Anti-torture is one of the democratic parties PRO-LIFE values. No human life should be subject to torture by Americans.

themselves in my eyes, despite the disgusting Condi vote.

16. that's why i was hoping all the dems would vote no, so the GOP
could have the title all to itself. Heck, I even naively thought that possibly there was one GOP senator with a glimmer of a conscience, guess not.
