I went to the protest in Omaha this morning
There were about 600 people, which was good for NE I thought. There were some Sudanese there asking Bush for help in Sudan--poor guys, they better find some oil first if they want us to rid them of tyranny.

The song "I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free" got stuck in my head. I hate the song, but it was true. The police, the supporters, the snipers on the roof--in some way, we all recognized each other's right to be there. We were free to protest, and that reminded me why were Americans.

It was NE, so someone brought donuts.

As a tangental observation, I thought Omaha was really beautiful. I've lived here for 3 years, but I'd never seen the skyline from this particular angle before, in the morning sun, and it was very splendid. I never know what to make of Omaha--sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it.

1. Nice post
Two of your comments that stood out for me were:

"It was NE, so someone brought donuts." -- Hilarious.

"The police, the supporters, the snipers on the roof--in some way, we all recognized each other's right to be there." -- Deep, when you think about it.

Cheers to you for protesting.
