8. "But bush said"
Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

Go a year in the future - But bush said social security was in crisis?

Look em in the eye, poke em in the chest, kick em in the ass.

I could afford a thousand loss but I want odds from all those dumb enough to doubt. They are certainly sure enough that bush is president and god, so maybe 10-1???

18. Not Yet, But Soon
I may not be in the invading force, but I bet two years down the raod they will need occupation forces. I am not optimistic about it, but I will probably end up somewhere on account of the Bush administration sometime before college.

Hell, they've got recruiters coming almost everyday, in fact, they've already talked to the Freshmen about signing up the first days of school.

33. actually you're good.
26 is the cutoff. they go for 20 year olds first, then 21, then i believe they hit 22 and 23, then go for 19 and 18. they only go for the older (24/25/26) if it's an extended draft.

36. yea.
don't take my info as gospel tho. check it out for yourself! then you don't have to worry.

the thing is, i've seen the opinion on the draft as going both ways...there will be bc bush is an evil heartless bastard, and there won't be bc bush is a coward who doesn't want the nation rising up against him...

but who knows what the future brings?

7. Clearly ...
the buildup has begun. I just wonder what kind of bullshit reasons they'll come up with for an invasion. Perhaps, "to protect Iran from gay marriage" OR "to make sure abortion NEVER becomes legal."

14. I believe some Repubs are trying to introduce some legislation in the
Congress about Iran.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=1211874
WASHINGTON — Though the Bush administration denies it has any designs on changing Iran's theocracy, members of Congress are planning ways to assist in a possible "regime change."

Movements are afoot in both the House and Senate to pass legislation that would enable the U.S. government to support foreign and domestic pro-democracy groups opposed to the current Islamic republic of Iran.

Aides for Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., said the senator is drafting legislation that would resemble a bill he introduced in the last congressional session, the "Iran Freedom and Support Act." (search) Though the language in the new bill is being worked out, it is expected to echo the prior bill in that it would include financial assistance for opposition groups. The original bill did not make it to the Senate floor.

"By supporting the people of Iran, and through greater outreach to pro-democracy groups, we will hopefully foster a peaceful transition to democracy in Iran," Santorum said in a statement regarding his new proposal. "The bill also notes the futility of working with the Iranian government."

21. There's no doubt
Der Furher said the same thing to the Iranians that he said to the Iraqis in the State of Delusion a couple years ago. Maybe changing your voting registration to repug will save you from the draft.

32. However . . .
Didn't Iran actually have links to Al-Quaeda and WMD's? I heard that on the Daily Show, so it MUST be true.

Actually, the Daily SHow is probably more accurate than the other major news outlet. I do like CNN and my local CBS affiliate though. MSNBC is quickly becoming just as conservative as FOX News (and MSNBC was known for being a liberal news outlet; I guess they're trying to kill that image)

34. Maybe Clinton-style bombing raids, but not a full-scale invasion.
Iran has a population nearly 3 times greater than that of Iraq. Hence the only way to get the manpower necessary to pull off an invasion would be via a draft. Suggestions of a draft would raise a shitstorm within the Department of Defence. Ya really think the military wants their numbers quadrupled with a bunch of new people that don't want to be there? Behind the scenes, top military brass would fight tooth and nail against this.

Even if they can miraculously get the DoD behind them enough to push a draft, the backlash from the public would be enormous. Most of the dumbfucks who voted for Bush cause they thought he'd make their sons and daughters safer are bright enough to realize that shipping them off to the other side of the world to get shot at could perhaps entail some danger. While the Bush Administration has pulled a lot of shit over the last 4 years, most of these actions don't have the sort of direct and immediate impact on the lives of the majority of Americans that a draft does. Ya wanna get a bunch of suburban soccer moms taking to the streets to protest? Kidnap their daughters and sons and ship 'em to Iran.
