Now more than ever: "The Republican Noise Machine."
If the revelations about Armstrong Williams, Jim Guckert/Jeff Gannon, Howard Kurtz and the missus, etc. are seeming too consequential, I suggest you find out why.

It's covered very well in David Brock's "The Republican Noise Machine."

Let's boost the hardcover up to the NYT #1 WITHOUT the RW tactic of group sales. If you want to believe the media can be brought to its knees, read this book.

Also: Joe Conason's "Big Lies."

Any other recommendations?

1. You are the second person to recommend this book to me
within the last 10 days.

I'll be getting my copy this week

3. Prepare for your jaw to hit the floor at least a few times.
I listened to it on CD in the car and I almost had to pull over a couple of times.

2. Alterman needs more people to buy "When Presidents Lie"
and I hear it's very good.

5. Read it long ago....
and I recommend it to everyone!

The media is not your friend...and you need not believe most of everything they print. They manipulate, propagandize and do a lot of rumor mongering. It's really sad that they have more say into our politics than we do....but that's exactly what has been happening for quite some time now.

7. I heard "Blinded by the Right" was/is revealing.
I haven't read that one yet.

I've done more reading the last four years than I had twenty years before that,...and I do a helluva lot of reading. I reached an overload point this past summer and decided to focus on current events.

8. Kind of in the same position myself...
and I order books for a library. I pick them from reviews and industry blurbs.

Hell or paradise? I still can't decide! My reading list is in an Excel file, and it's now 2 pages long...

(sigh)
