I think Franken is going to pass on 2006 |

He just inked a huge contract with AA through 2007, and the network needs him while they are still in their infancy. I think he was always planning on 2008, and that he will decide now is not the time.

His 2008 timing, I suspect, was based on not challenging an incumbent Democrat, Dayton, in 2006, and trying to unseat Coleman, a Republican, in 2008.
Now that the Democrat's seat is open, I believe Franken will go for it.

going into public life and running for office are not (initially) very lucrative. People like John Kerry and Jon Corzine are true patriots. Perhaps Al will give it a try. I would like to see him do it.

Besides, what Repunk will run up there that is a threat to stealing that seat? And if the Dems get Alan Page - or even if Jesse Ventura decides to run as an independent - game over, IMHO.
