Will Bush declare victory in Iraq, then cut and run?
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 07:33 AM by TayTay
The Boston Globe ran an article today that hints that the US may begin to diminish it's role in Iraq over the coming months.
http://www.boston.com/news/world/articles/2005/02/15/us_hints_at_a_lesser_role_as_iraq_eyes_new_leaders/?rss_id=Boston+Globe+--+World+News

So, after nearly $300 billion dollars, almost 1500 dead and thousands of wounded Americans and the horrific suffering and death of so many of the Iraqi people, we declare victory and go home? The Iraqi elections have moved Iraq closer to Iran, it seems that some sort of religiously aligned government will come into being that will have strong religious ties to Iran and there won't be many safeguards for the rights of women or religious minorities. Yeah, freedom is on the march alright, the march to irrelevency.

1. God, that would be the smart thing to do, but I don't hold out....
...much hope for that anytime soon.

3. If he does, he better be very aware of his surroundings....
There are powerful people with a lot invested in the annexation of Iraq. They would not be happy.

4. No. The troops will stay for
at least 4 more years in those 14 bases. The numbers may decrease by 50K but they will stay to protect the U.S. oil.

5. The only reason..
... I don't necessarily think a pullout is planned. If it happens, it will only be to free up troops for Iran :(
