Gannon? Gannon who?
Sorry to say it, gleeful DUers. I've been offline since Friday afternoon. Listened to a bit of mainstream news while driving, a bit of late evening news, read the daily and Sunday papers, but I've stayed away from DU and the blogs while I gave my wife my undivided attention for the last few days (except yesterday, when I went snowboarding with a republican, and used some time trapped on the lift to chastise him for voting to draft my teenaged boys into the Euro/Oil war). Guess what...I'm still trying to figure out what is going on with Gannon since Friday morning. I've seen a few happy posts about how bad things have gotten, but in my few days as "Average Joe Citizen," I didn't hear shit about Gannon. Nothing.

Once again, we might think this is huge -- you know, gay prostitutes in the midst of the fundy thumper administration -- but, no. The M$M doesn't care and isn't telling the Wal Mart Nation. Barely a peep. Don't get all excited is all I'm saying. We thought the illegal Medicare arm twisting and bribing would bring them down. Nope. We thought all sorts of scandals would bring them down. But we keep forgetting...it takes the M$M to give a story legs, and they're not running with this, no matter how much we blog about it. That basically relegates the Gannon story to conspiracy Bush-hater rant status among the average joe. Don't bet the farm on this having any impact on BushCo which can't be dismissed with a flippant remark and a cynical snicker.

good thing. In the past, everything that actually made the MSM got spun into RW gold. If this one dies quickly in "the fartland" it may yet bite 'em in the ass down the road.

2. Probably because of this.......
(Gannon/Gurket) May reach so high into our Military and Government that the Senate has been told...BACK OFF...Reporters have been told...BACK OFF... The silence is amazing. Especially given that it's on both sides of the aisles....No Drudge and David Corn just shoots down the whole thing with a lame article that is shocking since he writes for the Nation and would be expected to at least try to be "fair" about Gannon. He sounds like Kurtz in the article.

No one wants to touch it except to discredit it or to make GanGurk sound like a victim.

They forget how many of us remember Clinton.....and Monica and years of smearing over sex. Will they get away with it?

SEX AND THE CAPITAL

KARLYN BARKER, WASHINGTON POST, JULY 24, 1990: The alleged leader of what authorities have called the largest male prostitution operation in the Washington area surrendered to federal agents yesterday and pleaded not guilty to racketeering charges that have been filed against him and three alleged accomplices. Henry W. Vinson, 29, of Williamson, W.Va., a coal miner's son accused of setting up the homosexual escort service, was arraigned in U.S. District Court here yesterday afternoon after turning himself in to Secret Service agents . . . At a news conference after the arraignment, Stephens said the investigation into the alleged prostitution ring "is concluded" and that the indictment, which was unsealed yesterday, focused on those who allegedly set up the ring rather than on clients who reportedly patronized it. Asked about earlier reports that some of those clients included high-level officials in the Reagan and Bush administrations, Stephens said the investigation had not revealed "additional conduct which suggests criminal conduct on behalf of other people." . . . The Vinson case provoked additional notice after The Washington Times published reports last summer suggesting that the alleged prostitution ring had been patronized by government officials. The Times named as clients several low-level government employees and Craig J. Spence, a Washington lobbyist and party-giver who, the paper said, took friends and prostitutes on late-night tours of the White House. Spence was found dead in a Boston hotel room last fall, and authorities ruled his death a suicide . . . To date, however, investigators have disclosed no evidence linking any high-level government official to the escort service.
