Why don't the Democrats officially withdraw from participation...? |
|
in the political process? Just come out in a group before the press and say, "We have nothing more to say..The people chose Bush and the neo-con agenda. The huge deficits, the never-ending war, the animosities around the world, the insecurity here at home, Social Security financing problems, they were all created by the Republicans. We do not feel we have any obligation to put forth a solution to their screw-ups. Let them figure it out. We will no longer be part of the charade."

3. Sounds like the Democratic Socialists of America... |
|
...and we all know how well that approach has worked out for them. They are irreverent politically.
If you are not IN the game, you are OUT of the game.
48.5% of the country is still on our side. That's a pretty good start. We'd be MUCH, much better off presenting a real alternative to the Bush agenda and fighting hard to get our country back.
If that doesn't work, OK, then I guess Canada will have to prepare itself for about 150 million new residents.
But surrender is really not an option.

4. Because Dean likes his new job? |
|
Because the dems don't want to have fewer votes than the Conservative Party in NY?
Because the people with the money that support the party wouldn't be very happy ... and would take their money elsewhere?

5. No, they're being paid to do a job. |
|
It would be nice to see them vote as a bloc against all this stuff, including Bush's horrible appointees.
However, decades of DLC leadership have castrated most of them. The only balls left are among the black caucus and the female members.

7. The same reason why the UN and Europe have not told the USA to |
|
go to hell - a shammed USA, on top of the end of the America empire, is not a good thing. The UN even passed resolution about Iraq after the Bush neocons totally tried to mar the UN. They all keep hoping this rogue bunch of pseudo-intellectual who actually played right into the hands of bin-Laden will pass. And just be a blurp. And they all hope things can go back to what they were in 1998 or so.
In the mean time:

8. because Democracy depends on an active opposition party. |
|
Democratic representatives were elected to participate in the political process. They have a job that they were elected to. Just because they are in the minority doesn't mean that they should check out of the process. That would be surrendering to fascism, a one party state. The government is not a charade no matter what party happens to be in the majority.

11. And then say, "Syke." |

Seriously though, that would be pretty funny.
Obviously, following through with it would be a bad idea.
