Clark supporters Urgent Message!
I just posted this but it was not getting any hits:

JANUARY 21, 2004 – In this story written on December 8, 2003 (http://www.moderateindependent.com/v1i16clarksurge.htm ), we informed you of the right-wing’s election strategy. The basic idea is to push Kerry and Edwards early on, then turn on them. The goal is to bury Clark – who they are worried is the best candidate to beat President Bush – and ensure that Dean wins – the person they consider easiest to beat.

Here is an excerpt from a prominent right-wing website, as reported in that December 8 article:

"The rationale is simple:
1. We still want Dean to be the nominee so that President Bush can crush him and have long coattails.
2. The biggest threat to a Dean nomination is no longer Dick Gephardt, John Kerry or John Edwards. It's Weasel Clark, for all the reasons outlined below.
3. To help Dean, we have to bring down Clark's vote totals in the crucial states of New Hampshire and South Carolina.
4. In New Hampshire, donating to neighbouring-son John Kerry will help ensure that Clark won't surpass expectations by finishing ahead of Kerry.
5. In South Carolina, Clark can be stopped by neighbouring-son John Edwards.

In addition to reporting this a month and a half ago, we reported last week in this article (http://www.moderateindependent.com/v1i18rightwing.htm) that the right-wing was about to launch an all out smear assault against General Clark.

And we have had confirmed by an inside source that this is indeed the marching orders – in fact, you don’t have to look far to see this. Just listen to AM radio or watch FOX News and you will see nothing but the same handful of dishonest smears and innuendo about Clark repeated and repeated – every time he comes up, every time, they will be sure to mention the two dictated lies of the moment - and praise for Kerry and Edwards.

1. Thanks, Quixote
I've seen it. It does seem to make sense of some of the recent news coverage and punditocracy regarding Clark.

12. Really

Really, haven't you seen 4 or 5 threads today telling Dean supporters how to behave on DU (not to respond to any threads that were negative about Dean and just let them fade away).

So Q admits he had already posted this, but it wasn't getting the response he desired - so he then reposts or whatever to rally 'the troops' into 'action'.

"marching orders" he said.

In case you are not aware DU is not the proper venue to 'order' the ' Clark troops' into 'action'

Like little soldiers for Clark.

Maybe some Kerry, Edwards, and Kucinch supporters will weigh in as well - but personally - I don't think I have ever seen such a blatant misuse and disregard of this forum.

5. Those guys remind me a lot of Mother Jones...
They report it, and three months later...it's news!

This figures, though...and shows just who the Repubs are REALLY scared of...someone who tells it like it is, and hits them where they live...THAT they cannot take! But that they will have to deal with if Gen. Clark pulls this out.

B-)

6. I think any Dem candidate
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 11:52 PM by mzpip
can give Bush a run for his money. But I do think The RW fears Clark the most. However, I doubt many of them are willing to put up any of their beer money to fill the election coffers of Dean, Kerry or Edwards.

Besides, considering what happened in Iowa, I doubt the RW will have a whole lot of effect on Dem politics. I think we all pretty much are not going to be manipulated by the media or the polls or the likes of Newsmax.

the relentless nonstop bashing of Dean has me convinced HE is the one they fear most.

15. agreed - it was a concerted smear campaign by the right-wing
And their vitriol has now been accepted as conventional wisdom, even by many people HERE. I thought we were able to see through the media lies. Suddenly Dean really is "angry", "unstable", and "unelectable" in the eyes of many here. The right-wing dishes it and the public eats it right up!

If they really thought Dean was so "unelectable" they would have given him a free-pass, like they do Sharpton or Kucinich.

It's very disappointing to me that so many have fallen for it hook, line, and sinker.

The media didn't create the "Angry Dean" Dean said he was Angry and wanted to take back America.

9. Problem with this post is it hints Clark is the only legitimate candidate
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 11:50 PM by overground1
It is a veiled attack against Dean, Edwards, and most of all Kerry as some weird justification why people should not vote for anyone but Clark. One could just as easily say that Clark is the right-wing's stealth candidate...

21. Between You And Me Quixote
I'd prefer to let this thread sink.

The information on how and what Clark is doing is out there... it's just not on CNN.

Frankly, I like it better that way. :)

24. The blog says this too - about the Anti-Dean movement
After three months of blissful cocooning with my newborn son, I returned to find the Democratic presidential contenders in an even greater state of disarray than when I last left them. Perhaps most notably, this summer's anti-Dean sentiment seems to have swollen into a barely contained rage, something fit for a Tarantino-style blood bath. Let's call it: Kill Howard. The more Democratic voters to fall under Dean's spell, the more furious--and incoherent--his detractors become. He's a paleoliberal. He's a heartless conservative. He's too naïve to beat Bush. He's too politically cynical to trust. He's a Stalinist. He's a neofascist. He kills babies and drinks their blood. And if someone doesn't stop him right this minute , he's going to destroy the entire Democratic Party!!! Good God.

At least that seems pretty accurate !

25. Locking.
7. You may not post any material from extreme right-wing sources, specifically WorldNetDaily.com, Newsmax.com, FreeRepublic.com, and their ilk. Material from more "mainstream" conservative writers or sources, such as The Washington Times and Fox News, are permitted as long as the post includes a clear warning about the source. (For example: "WARNING: Please note that this article is written by George Will.")

Please denote any "prominent right-wing website" that you quote.

Thanks,
