Guys, before we let the Guckert ball roll between our legs. . .
Would it be so bad to politely ask Chairman Dean to speak out forcefully on this issue, and quickly? Administrations have been toppled by far less!

And wouldn't it be nice to bid an early farewell to BushCo?

au revoir!

1. THE STORY HAS LEGS!!!!!!!! Don Imus, GOP toady and
...general asshole, is devoting a HUGE portion of his show to Guckert and the Valerie Plame case. He and Chris Matthews are, at this writing, beating that thing like a bad piece of meat. It is WONDERFUL to hear!!! Huzzah!!!

30. This needs to be talked about by the MSM. And Tom Daschle
is the one who needs to speak out about it...not Dean. Democrats have no power to hold anything but their own hearings which no one will report on and few Dems will even show up.

This has nothing to do with Dean. The White House and Repugs should be talking about this breach of security.

White House would love to shift this argument to the Dems.

11. I had to switch off Tweety last night so maybe I missed it.
Tweety's billing and cooing and fawning over how good the Wead tapes made Bu$h look revolted me. He spent waaaaaaaay too much time gushing over that red herring. Sorry I missed any decent coverage by Tweety on Gannon/Guckert.

...and he had some good input. Maybe he will get off his ass and cover it tonight on his program.

because he used to dye his hair with this obviously fake, bright blond color. "Tweety" seemed like a natural way to go.

Here's a cartoon of Tweety Matthews I made for Media Whores Online a few years ago:

15. Stooges like Imus and Tweety are the EXACT people
who are right to cover this crap. If dean does anything, he should talk about journalistic integrity in general. If he never mentions Gannon's name, I'll be just fine with that.

2. Dean
Yes, I too was hoping Dean would help push this story into the spotlight. No more rolling over for the Democratic party. When these events take place, we need to use them to our advantage and stop playing nice. We've seen where "nice" gets us. Just look at the last two elections. If this had occurred under Clinton.....

4. actually I think Dean ought to keep a distance
Right now gannongate needs solid investigation and reporting that is non-partisan. Like for example, how has Guckert kept himself in suits and paid the rent for the last few years? The most Dean should be doing is framing the whole thing in terms of journalistic ethics and responsibility - for example that Gannon is another symptom of a bought and paid for media shilling for the bush administration.

Too bad sports don't count for shit in politics...

At any rate, I think you have a good idea Marco. Dean could be a decisively effictive force in this if he just raises plainly the BIG HONKING QUESTIONS that the press is too corrupt and feeble to articulate.

5. The LEAST the party could do
would be to have a page (or three) accessible from their website, if only about the FOI requests made by Dem Congresscritters.

As I'd complained last week, it's ridiculous that a search of "gannon" and "guckert" STILL yields nothing from democrats.org.

at least legislatively and maybe altogether, and if he does, I'll change my sig to "I love Dean" and I'll mean it!

I'm not kidding. The others can't or won't, and I'd be happy to discuss why, but this is clearly a job Dean can and I hope will do.

29. Yup. The "Judo Chess" crowd makes their mark on Dean
Here it is, folks: The down side of keeping all those 0-3 message people employed in the party. The dems could easily--and I mean in a heartbeat, force the whores to report this story, just by a unified effort to bring it up.

But, alas, this would involve some risk and as soon as a tiny bit of risk shows up, the Dem child-press-operatives get wobbly, start telling their bosses, also inclined to avoid conflict with bush, to run away. So they do.

Tick. Tick. Tick, folks. The Rethugs are gearing up for 06--and as the Washington Monthly points out, scouring the country for new political and communications talent. We're keeping the same local small-town dim bulbs in place, just because.....well...they're already in place.

35. Bingo!
Until the Dem's stand up and confront this illegal administration, the appeasers will continue their work of making the part irrelevant.

I am so sick of the spineless jellyfish routine. Did the "lets not attack bush" theme work during the Kerry campaign? Obviously not. I was so embarrassed by the Dem convention and how they painfully avoided criticizing *, then the repukes ran their hatefest against Kerry. Now they have this prime opportunity right in front of them and they are, as usual, scurrying away from the fight.

...first weeks.

He should also do a preemptive agreement with Ried, Boxer, Kerry, Biden, Kennedy and Pelosi to DEMAND AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION on the three matters of:

1. Sharing CIA information with a known homosexual prostitute with unheard off White House access to the Press Corps, thus breaching security principles and endangering the Presidency of The Untied States This information also contains possible treasonous acts upon the United States of America with links to the White House.

2. How and why was Gannon picked for the number of questions and why were they exactly phrased on Hannity's and Rush's shows?

3. How could someone like Gannon get access to the White House Press Corps when he would have had to go through security which demands CIA approval of his REAL name, which would have been easily traceable as him having gay porn web sites under his name and other breaches of security.

Others...

It's time that our representatives stop worrying about their careers or the next election and stand up for what's right. They need to be upfront in fighting this stuff. They have all the information and evidence they need to proceed. They just need to get on with it.
