Former Staffer of Senator John Thune (R-SD) Alleges Former Democratic Minority Leader Tom Daschle (S-SD) Knew Gannon Was Gay Prostitute--in Early 2004
By ADVOCATE STAFF

This just keeps getting curioser and curioser, doesn't it?

According to the bio of the South Dakota blog, "South Dakota Politics,"

SDP was founded by Jason Van Beek, who stopped blogging after becoming a staffer for Senator John Thune (R-SD) and is currently operated by South Dakota State University professor Jon Lauck, University of South Dakota law student Quentin Riggins, Wes Roth, and Northern State University professors Jon Schaff and Ken Blanchard.

Those of us following Gannongate are familiar with a lot of these names by now.

Van Beek, you will recall, is the odious little H.L. Mencken who sold his integrity for $8,000, the amount his party's candidate for the Senate in South Dakota, John Thune, paid him to carry water for the campaign without disclosing it on his blog.

....

Then, on February 20th, 2004--just this past weekend--came the bombshell nobody noticed.

At first.

Lauck posted the following claim on his (or is it Thune's?) blog:

Some of the same former Daschle staffers who promoted the ridiculous story that Thune was getting divorced after the last election (Roll Call specifically explained that the stories were coming from Daschle staffers) are pushing the Gannon story. Reporters have recently told me that the Daschle campaign had been sending them photos of Gannon for at least a year to discredit him.

3. Daschle Was Far Too Busy With The People's Work
Now that Thune won by ignoring 90%+ of the Native American vote, why does he need to bother with further baseless mudslinging at Daschle?

4. Doesn't this reflect well on Daschle's character?
He was in a fierce fight for re-election and knew that one of the opposition was a gay prostitute and didn't out him? Sounds like a man of integrity and conscience to me who wouldn't resort to smears and dirty tricks to cloud the issues.

5. my thoughts exactly--Dems want a private life for all
Pukkkes run phone banks and push polls--and are perfectly ok with prostituting themselves on all levels for Der Fuhrer.

7. Same thing with Alex Sanders. They knew Lindsey Graham's gay, but wouldn't
allow anyone from the campaign to out him.

6. So are these fools trying to claim that the prostitution was a set up?
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 11:30 AM by UL_Approved
Am I reading this article correctly?

Do these people actually think that they can totally get rid of the Gannon/Guckert scandal by claiming this was a set up?

I want to see how this turns out. This whole country is in serious trouble if the allegations of fake photos and other stuff become the "official story".

Gannon got caught with his pants down. Repeatedly. On the Internet. As a prostitute. A gay prostitute.

IF the US MSM can get this story the coverage it deserves, then we will have the whole Bush campaign exposed.

What really strikes me is how much Bush has been able to determine what people actually see in the news. Clinton could have made up a situation where the Lewinsky and Whitewater affairs got buried. But he didn't. All these RW guys don't seem to understand the most basic fact of MSM limits from the president. Clinton had minor PERSONAL scandals which he let the MSM cover in full. Bush has a POLITICAL scandal that affects the ENTIRE WORLD (see the reference to Gannon/Guckert knowing about huge breaking stories, falsified WMD reports and evidence), and he buries all criticism at the bottom of the newspapers, television shows, and Internet publications. How can these people not see what is really going on?

On edit: After reading the article more carefully, I see that the allegations are that Daschle knew that this guy was a prostitute in February 2004. This would mean that the Gannon/Guckert scandal was widely known for a long time. My only question is, why wasn't this pushed BEFORE the 2004 election?
