Art Linkletter is the head of the group smearing AARP??????
WTF? When did Linkletter decide to hold the rope for the lynch mob? Here's part of a transcript of an interview on Fox:

http://www.usanext.org/full_story.cfm?article_id=115&category_id=3

CAVUTO: Let me ask you, you kind of drew a distinction between the AARP and a lot of other seniors in this country who you say think it is time to look at Social Security. Could you explain that?

Mr. LINKLETTER: Very much so. AARP is probably the largest liberal lobbying group in Washington, with some 33 million people, and my group, the USA Next, are a little smaller. And we're very conservative. I also happen to be a guy who has lived for 93 years, and I have seen all of this happen. I saw it when it was happening as the beginning of Social Security many, many, many years ago, and it was a great idea, I thought. But who could have guessed that there'd be this many changes in the last 40 years?

For instance, when I was born in 1912, I could expect to live to be 47. Today's child can expect to live to be 77. So what a difference in figures that makes if you're going to have a payoff like an insurance company. And many other changes, of course.

CAVUTO: You know, Art, many seniors--many of whom e-mailed me when I mentioned on the show last week that Social Security is broken, does need fixing--they quibble with that. But they also said, especially the 55 and over crowd, that they're not whining, they're just trying to push for what they think is rightfully theirs. What do you make of that?

5. He's always been a creep, in my opinion.
I've never felt comfortable about him - and I'm old enough to remember his TV shows.

6. Art Link letter is a Huckster
from the good old days of door-to-door encyclopedia salesmen. I've seen some of his training videos, made for a previous employer.

I actually like Art in a way, having seen his afternoon show when I was young, including the "Kids Say the Darnedest Things" segment. He's one of those self-made men who win friends and influence people with a positive attitude.

I'm disappointed in him. I don't if he's a born-again free marketeer, a trickle-down rich guy, or a pawn of the GOP. Whichever, it's not helping his fan base economically.

15. The bastard even exploited the suicide of his own daughter ...
... to fabricate (LIE!) the reason for her suicide as LSD - a contention totally unsupported by the facts. His son got killed in an auto accident 10 years later, and he even exploited that. He's a fucking ghoul.

10. "thought it was a good idea"
because he'd only live to be 47??? :wtf: If that were the case, why would he think it such a great idea? No one would get their money as part of retirement security. And the relatively small amounts paid in during the expected 29 years of being in the work force would quickly drain the system with benefits to multiple dependents (spouse, children till age 18).

Is that screwy logic or is it just me?

11. He's been a right wing shill since the 60's
Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 10:26 AM by Armstead
He was part of the old right wing conservative farts who came out against "hippies" and the communist menace in the 60's, along with John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart Bob Hope and other celebrities who were once admired American icons but who turned into grouchy right wing old bastids when society changed.

12. Hell, Linkletter's 92 years old...
and either is, or was a millionaire. Why should he care if I can make ends meet or not?

Oh, that's right, just like Bush and his brainwashed bots...he doesn't.

13. Still Alive
My best friend met him a few months ago. They use the same barber
shop. The barbers say he is as sharp as he ever was.

I met him back in the 60's when he threw out the first ball at a
Dodger's game. My mother overheard him cackling with glee over the
crops in northern California being ruined by rain because it would
increase the price of the crops on the farm HE owned.

Yet another conservative hack quizmaster (or is that quisling?).
