Judith Miller and Matt Cooper on NPR's Fresh Air NOW! |
|
Journalists Judith Miller and Matt Cooper discuss their court case, in which they face jail time for refusing to reveal their sources in an investigation into the leak of a CIA officer's name. Despite attorney Floyd Abrams's efforts, on Feb. 15, 2005, a federal appeals court upheld a ruling against the two.

As others have pointed out, Novak has either made a deal with the prosecutor, or is a paid govt. asset, which might give him some immunity. His silence on the matter speaks volumes.

Normally it would be at < http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=13> by 3:00pm EST. I don't know why it's not. You can also find ALL the stations currently streaming this show (Fresh Air) at < http://www.publicradiofan.com/cgi-bin/program.pl?programid=17>

9. Novak is the key, of course, and the silence says it all..... |
|

This is nothing but a total sham of a mockery of a sham of an "investigation". If Novak has cut a deal, well let's move on with the indictments. If he hasn't, then he let's move on with his subpoena. The silence screams, "a deal has been made" and it's all going down the memory hole.
And ya know what? As much as I usually admire reporters for protecting their sources, this is one case where it just doesn't make any fucking sense. The source is USING the reporter in this instance. There is no noble "whistleblower" here who needs protecting. I mean, if Miller gives up her source, it's not gonna stop them from USING her again. Or maybe that's the fear...If I give up the source, then the WH won't feed me talking points anymore. They won't let me be their Judas goat....hmmmm

10. The funny thing is that the biggest news story Judith Miller could ever... |
|
...report in her life is who it was in the WH who committed this crime.
She's trying to say that it is an important part of democracy that she be able not to do her job of reporting the news.
