Get Raptured!
To: Fundi Right-wingers
Your Town
U.S.A.

Dear Right-wingers,
Enough is enough. We're sick and tired of the lot of you. The "left" has had a secret meeting (you're not the only ones who can do that little clandestine thing) and we took a vote. We think it is time for all of you to get raptured. So go ahead. Get on with it. You're so miserable here--get out then.

We realize that "traditionally" speaking, your clothes are suppose to drop off as you float up into the heavens, but we are officially requesting that you at least keep your undies on as you float away. You all might get a bit of a thrill in your last moments as you expose the rest of us to your unmentionables--but really, we'd rather not be "witness" to that sort of thing.

So, rapture away then. We won't try to stop you or hold you back. We've got a lot of work to do--cleaning up after the messes you've made. Just don't make any more on your way out.

Looking forward to all of you floating away,
Liberal well-wishers

21. You must not know anything about the "rapture" do you?
You'll have earth to yourselves, but not the "earth" that you used to love.

Let me explain.

The point of the rapture is to take "God's children" away from the hell that literally breaks through on earth. This will be during the tribulation period where "a third of all men" (1/3 of the population) on earth dies, then another 3rd of that thrid dies, I think, and there is plenty of destruction, wars, famine, diseases, huge earthquakes, a meteor or asteroid strikes the earth, "a mountain buring with fire is cast into the sea" (that's probably the volcano that erupts and then could fall into the ocean over in the Canary Islands, I believe), etc. It begins with the antichrist rising to power.

24. and what is your source of info on the "rapture?"
Cause it ain't in the bible. THe theory has only been around a couple hundred years and iirc requires a few bible passages to be stitched together.

2. The problem with the rapture is...
That they think some kind of madness and depravity will prevail once the truly enlightened are spirited away. I think that most of what I believe has been deemed madness or depravity by one group or another at some point in history. Even if a rapture happened, I think whomever was left would still be the same cross section of society that exists right now.

4. ah, but they are the ones filled with madness and depravity
they are the hypocritical crop that has spread across this country like weeds

and as far as the rapture actually happening--well, i can't remember the last time a fairy tale came true. can you? (and what a vile, wicked tale they tell. i mean, i didn't let my daughter watch the wizard of oz until she was eight and we talked about it being "pretend" -- unlike some people who talk about the fire and brimstone and demons to their young children and tell them it's real! talking about messing up a kids mind...)

5. If the Rapture comes we'll never notice
Funny thing. The short list of the true Christians who will disappear in the blink of an eye must be written in invisible ink, because as far as I can see, the list has no names on it.

6. Did anyone else see the poll that found 17% of respondents
believe that they are not going to die because they will be swept to heaven in the Rapture ? If I heard the report right and the poll was on the level the Republicans have an irreducible seventeen point cushion of morans who can be sold anything .

7. The Rapture Appeals To Baser Aspirations
I am struck by how the idea of the Rapture, believed in by a lot of people who call themselves Christians, really appeals to some very base desires and aspirations, rather than to any noble ones.

The idea of having God's plan all figured out (based on the highly questionable assumption that the Bible is absolute, unquestionable truth, and then on the equally questionable assumption that one is interpreting and understanding this supposed absolute truth correctly), and then believing that one is going to be raptured away while the rest of the world literally goes to hell, has an appeal to some very base desires.

11. What goes through these folks minds when they lay on their death bed and
haven't been raptured yet?

I think the rapture idea is just a bunch of people mind fucking themselves. You have to have a complete self-centered mentality to think that you are so superior to the rest of the population that you will be saved and to hell with everyone else. Rapture fits the right wing themes well since you tell yourself that anyone less well off than you did it to themselves and therefore you don't have to have any social welfare concerns.

Real followers of Christ would care about others I would think since that is what he preached if you read the New Testament. The message Dem Christians have to get out there is that social justice is what Jesus preached.

this blatant bigotry is making me sick. Please don't connect your hatred to the DNC, thank you.

I don't hate Hindus. If Hindus all voted republican, I still would not hate them. Its one thing to disagree and compete for political power, its another thing to belittle and impune anothers beliefs.

Stop it. please.

16. Nobody here hates Christians. Get over it
A lot of people here, like myself, hate right wing fundimentalists who pretend to be Christian. Who hide behind their "religion" and use it to spread hate and bigotry.

20. Fascists use the major religion to deceive people into voting for them duh
Edited on Sat Feb-26-05 08:02 PM by independentchristian
That's what's going on here.

These "fundies" as you call them are just as "ignorant" as most voters in this country.

They don't know what's going on, and they think they are making the correct decision with their votes just like other people who vote do.

I could really care less whether anyone here "hates" Christians or not. I don't live my life to be liked, but of course, I'm nothing like most "Christians," let alone, most people. I'm going to tell it like it is.

"Christian voters" are no different than other voters. Most of them are ignorant of the real facts and fall for one or two main issues, and they should, because the Democrats keep playing along with it by focusing on the same "two stupid issues" that the GOP wants to talk about. Who taught these Democratic politicians how to dictate the debate?

17. The biggest problem with the rapture is that
these fundie wackos think that they will get into heaven.

Sorry, you can't be a bigoted asshole and treat other people like shit all your life and still expect to get into heaven.
