The town hall meeting with Senator Nelson was informative |
He presented the Bush Social Security plan with all of it's lies. There were a lot of repugs (this is central Florida, very red) at the meeting. I listened to some people before the Senator came in, they really were believing that you could invest part of your SS and make a lot of money. Not only did they believe this, it is their superior attitude that gets me, if I had spoken up I would have been dissed and dismissed. After Senator Nelson explained the pitfalls, he received a good hand and I do believe most people were turned around. At least I hope so. He said the best thing we could do to help was to e-mail the Senators in Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama. These were the hard line supporters of the Privitization of Social Security. There were not as many people attending the meeting as I would have wished, partly because there was not enough notice from either Bill Nelson's people or from the democratic organization. I posted here and in the local library, that was all the time I had.

1. Senator Nelson is firmly against privatization? |
Did you get any sense that he is interested in "working" with the WH?
