By Little Newtie Gingerich's definition of "elites", he is one.
I just caught a bit of his ponficating on C-SPAN. His garbled definition of elites include members of academe and Hollywood types and 2 other groups he couldn't name. Am I correct that he was/is a member of academe? He started as a college professor and now I believe he is with some think tank. Think tanks consider themselves academic organizations, or at least try to function as such.

The other thing he keeps hammering on is how "activist" judges and professors don't have the right to be paid to teach or administer ideas based on liberal thought, but somehow it is okay for conservative ideas to be taught--at least that is my perception of what he expects to fill that space in the universe. It is always amazing to me the extent to which conservatives see their world view as background color and everything else to be extraordinary.

That man has done so much damage to the political system.

He has always petrified me b/c of his ability to articulate bullshit in such an amazing manner.

He's running for prez and I think he's gonna win.

3. not to mention far too goofy a name
"President Newt Gingrich," though horrifying, doesn't sound remotely plausible.

4. And I am willing to use the baggage. No way should this morally
bankrupt Republican be president.

6. Shades of Vietnam era....
The word "elite" was used ALOT to describe intellectuals in those days. Sometimes I think conservatives are recycling old terminology because they can't think of anything new to say. By branding anti-war people as "elite", they attempted to segregate academia from "normal", everyday people. It's just another divisive ploy.
