3. It is newsworthy - the Bush's are snubbing people on purpose. |
|
Bush left his gloves on, too. They know damn well that this is considered ill-mannered. At a state visit every little geture counts. That's why it was important to report that Rice was dressed like a SadoMaso queen, too.

7. I can agree with that... |
|
but I think the Bushes are more ignorant than doing it on purpose. I think Laura at least pretends to be polite, and had she known she would have taken the gloves off for a few minutes. I do, however, think they are VERY lazy in terms of curiosity and eagerness to know different customs--they should have known--which is bad in itself.
There are just so many more important things CNN can be telling us about. Like, why Robert Novak isn't in prison for exposing an undercover CIA operative, etc.

of the United States must protect themselves from the germs and dirt and grime and poison rings carried on the hands their subjects.
I am betting on the poison ring theory.
It must be terrible to die a thousand deaths a day.

9. If they were scared they'd be poisoned by a HEAD OF STATE - ally |
|
at that - they should really stay the fuck home where they belong. And no, in Germany they took their gloves off. Germany is a little more important and was snubbed a different way. All of this is planned. The Bushes may be assholes but they are and have been rich people. They HAVE the upbringing to know when to take the gloves off. That's no quaint Slowakian custom - that's the custom all over the western world.

...it also is just as possible that Laura is a country bumpkin who doesn't know how to act in polite circles. Or, she might have just been being a jerk.

13. So, instead of Kevlar gloves, maybe they should just behave like civilized |
|
people and then the likelihood of someone trying to poison them would be greatly decreased.
My ol momma always said "If you don't want people to know what you are doing, you are doing something you aren't supposed to." check on that one, BFEE And, "If you are afraid of everybody, you probably need to behave better!" damn, Mom, you called that one too!
