Wouldn't that be something?

If the missing data tapes from BoA credit cards belonging to senators and military and government officials contained some charges to Jeff Gannon or someone like him?

The tapes are said to only effect "Fed Government Employees," Now that would be POWER. The ability to make Bank tapes go "Missing.":tinfoilhat:

4. I think that's unlikely, but what's interesting..
is how they managed to lose a million customer records,
by losing *backup* tapes.
If all they lost is the backup tapes, they could just make a new backup of those customer records, since a backup is a copy of an original.

Apparently they can't make a new backup, for which there's only one explanation: they lost the *original customer records* as well.
Curious, isn't it.

6. No, that's not the issue, if you believe that one of America's...
...largest banks could "Lose" back-up tapes.

The lost tapes are not the problem, it's that the Personal Identity information, that's on those "lost" tapes "could" be in the hands of criminals or at least available to be SOLD to criminals, who could turn around and take every last Dime (and available credit) out of these peoples Bank Accounts.

That's what sucks about this kind of "problem.":evilfrown:

Bank Loses Card Data of Senators, U.S. Govt Staff

Sat Feb 26, 2005 12:42 AM ET

By Joanne Morrison

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Computer tapes containing credit card records of U.S. Senators and more than a million U.S. government employees are missing, Bank of America said on Friday, putting the customers at increased risk of identity theft.

The security breach, which included data on a third of the Pentagon's staff, angered lawmakers already concerned after criminals gained access to thousands of consumer profiles in a database maintained by a data profiling company, ChoicePoint Inc.

Bank of America Corp. did not release details of how the tapes were lost, but Sen. Charles Schumer, a New York Democrat, said he had been informed by the Senate Rules Committee that the data tapes were likely stolen off a commercial plane by baggage handlers.

"Whether it is identity theft, terrorism or other theft, in this new and complicated world baggage handlers should have background checks and more care should be taken for who is hired for these increasingly sensitive positions," Schumer said.

11. Must be pretty sophisticated baggage handlers to know what the tapes
look like.... sounds like someone knew what they were after.

13. damn straight
How many baggage handlers would even know what they looked like, let alone have the equipment it takes to make the tapes useful.
