Mary Matelin, who was also going along, said on a show last weekend that she was paying her way to a point, then expected the government was going to foot the bill. This is the height of arrogance, considering it coincides with the Gannon/Guckert expose. They've gone from paying under the table to putting the money on top of the table.

an AID (Agency for International Development)official was going to Afghanistan and taking Rush and Mary Matalin, and Darryl Kagan would meet up with them for part of the trip (Rush's girlfriend). I haven't heard anything else recently, but I haven't been looking or listening for it. Don't forget, bush* said that Rush Limbaugh was a "national treasure". Ack!!!!!!!!
Edited to add: This means that we, the taxpayers, are paying. It's government PR.
