4. Condi was slammed by fellow blacks today on CSpan
Edited on Sat Feb-26-05 06:27 PM by Erika
at the Black National Conference.

They referred to her as a "ragged" sister who didn't know how to dress
properly. The remarks were well received by the audience.

Has a nice ring to it.

19. What she wears is irrelevant.
I don't care if she wears a gunny sack. With all of the legitimate issues out there that you can criticize her over such as her support for the illegal war in Iraq, they choose to criticize her for the way she dresses? Give me a break.

22. Showing up in Nazi dress
in Europe shows a lack of total disconnect by Rice. If she doesn't have the sense to know that, she doesn't have the sense to be SOS.

She was put down by the Black community for this lack of acumen.

I doubt very seriously that they meant that.

5. The better question is what she will do as VP
She will not be President but as a VP nominee she may pull enough votes to win an election.

8. I don't even see a VP spot for her.
Repukes don't elect blacks to office. The Southern Strategy will be the death of them.

6. No way.
Despite what the Repukes say she is not well spoken and does not handle confrontation well. She would be DEAD if the Repukes or Dems would put an attack dog against her once she no longer has the White House to protect her.

There is also no way that the South would vote for a black female it simply won't happen. A Condi nomination would be the best news the Dems have had in 8 years.

7. She's never had to run for anything before.
And besides, she comes off as very stiff and wooden to me. Too many inappropriate, insincere smiles.

28. I agree.
Rice comes across as rather cold, distant person. I doubt if she would ever be nominated. Millions of people would not vote for a black woman to be president.

9. November 2008
First black woman elected to President of the United States.
After counting the votes in total secrecy, the Diebold Corporation determined that Condoleeza Rice defeated Democrat John Edwards by a margin of 50.1% - 49.9%.

10. For every dumb black person who will vote for her...
...BECAUSE she's black, there will be a white redneck racist who won't BECAUSE she's black. So it all balances out.

12. diebold won't want her in -- it's run by a bunch of conservative
white guys. So she'll lose. It would be interesting to see her try. Minorities who think they've been accepted into the white thug fold are fun to watch when they realize they've been used.... a la Ford from Tennessee. I bet that's why Colin Powell won't run. maybe he knows the thugs for who they are - and he knows some racist pig will take him or one of his family members out.

17. No, Diebold isn't interested in white supremacy
You have to distinguish between the neocons and the religious fundamentalists and bigots. The Neocons (which Diebold is part of) are only interested in their own pocketbook. They are educated people who don't give two shits about gay marriage or keeping a black woman out of power because she's black. The bigots and the fundamentalists are tools of the neocons, they are the ones who won't vote for Condi because she's black.

21. She can't win. No woman (especially a black woman)
can become president. The White House has a glass ceiling. Also it is the WHITE House.

But, it's going to take some serious pushing from the Limbaugh's to get the racist vote.

30. Even if
Limbaugh supports Rice, she still would not win. There are people all over this country who would never vote to put a black person in the White House. They wouldn't want a black person as vice president either, too close to the top job.

26. She isnt getting anywhere near the Republican nomination...
But, lets just assume she does. She would be a horrible candidate in my opinion.

*Shes black (the bigots wont vote for a black).
*Shes a woman (see above).
*Shes pro-choice (the religious right will run a third party candidate like Roy Moore).
*Shes unmarried (see above).
*Shes uncharismatic.
*She has never held elective office.
*She has zero campaign experience.

31. I think it's very sad
that this is still going on in 2005. I want us to win in 2008 more than anybody, but it would be really sad if we won because of racism and sexism. However, if the choices were a black female Republican or a progressive Democrat, I think the racist, sexist idiots would just stay home.

33. Sure! As long as we have a corrupt electoral system!
Unless and until we have major overhaul of the electoral system, the corrupt right will continue to be coronated.
