21. According to George McGovern, who ought to know, Nixon was
a moderate liberal, as was the elder Bush. If you haven't seen his new book The Essential America, Our Founders and the great Liberal Tradition, you should check it out when you get a chance. It is a very enlightening and informative history of our government.

I'm editing this post to take out what I originally said.

Suffice to say, your ignorant assault on HST is not appreciated. I suspect you're not at all familiar with anything he wrote or said and are basing this comment on nothing but your own prejudicial arrogance.

Hunter stomped terra.

Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 06:50 PM by Pepperbelly
That was a totally bullshit remark. I know enough now to take everything you say with a dose of salt because we clearly are not on the same side. i expect he had far more to say drunk than you will in your very best state of mind.

And with far more relevance.

17. What HST did was--Write.
Any live appearances were strictly secondary to his great gift.

Have you ever read any of his works?

Imagine scrutinizing all the geniuses we have been lucky to have and declare them irrelevant due to the humanness.

We'd be fucked.

3. That's right
Nixon actually did things that some businesses did not like. My recollection is that he put some kind of freeze on wages and prices because of inflation. I'm afraid I don't much else on that front.
He did not flaunt religion and believe that he should impose religion on anyone.
He opened up communication with China.

Yes, I agree. Bush isn't conservative. He is RADICAL. Even Goldwater, would be liberal compared to Bush.

Nixon was much more liberal than Bush.

28. I miss Nixon
Never thought I'd live to say that. But compared to Bush, Nixon was a flaming liberal. HE actually believed that government had a place as a safety net. HE actually cared about the environment.

He was paranoid and did his "dirty trick" but in the grand scheme of things he doesn't even come close to Bush on corruptness and sleaze. Bush wins that contest hands down.
