Dean on the cover of the NY Daily News

Sen. John Kerry surged to the front of the pack yesterday as one-time front-runner Howard Dean was reduced to being the butt of national jokes. As a sign of Dean's desperation to reboot his candidacy, Dean and his wife, Dr. Judith Steinberg Dean will sit for an interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC.

1. You mean he is going to use his wife
as a political prop? I thought he said he wouldn't do that?

4. I see. It's O.K. for the other candidates to have their wives with them,
but not Dean?

He's always said that he respects his wife's decisions about how much "face time" she gives the campaign. She's obviously chosen to be a little more visable.

This kind of attack is just petty.

9. I think it's fine for the other candidates to have their wives
with them. It would be fine for Dean to have his wife with him, but he attacked the other candidates by saying he would not use his family for a political prop.
I just find it hypocritical.
IMHO

13. He did? I just remember him saying that his wife had decided not to
abandon her practice and daughter and that he supported her decision. When did he attack other candidates?

15. Not true, not true!
He did not say that. He said that it was their choice and that his wife and children were free opt in or out. If his spouse chooses to opt in, there's nothing wrong in that and he never said there would be.

3. Also yesterday the New York Post
had Dean on the cover instead of Bush after the SOTU. Daily News and Times had Bush, but the Post had Dean. I thought that was very telling that Murdoch's paper was going after Dean instead of promoting Bush the morning after the SOTU.
