Received a Fundraising letter/Survey from Delay and the NRCC |

Thought maybe some of the info here might help strategy-wise. Apparently the people who used to own our house (who left no forwarding address) used to be very staunch repubs. After 3 yrs in this house, I'm still getting their mail. This one looked interesting.
Dear Fellow Republicans, Over the next several months, Congress must make some difficult decisions about our country's future. With budget deficits rising steadily, we must take bold steps to stimulate the economy and create new jobs. We must fend off the liberal assault on American values. And we must continue supporting stability in the Middle East and confront terrorism more aggressively around the globe. As we weigh our options and evaluate alternatives, the opinion of patriotic Americans like you is especially important to the Republican Leadership in the House. You are among a select group of Americans receiving the enclosed NATIONAL PUBLIC OPINION PACKET. Your PACKET contains a special registered public opinion Survey on America's Future that has been assigned and prepared especially for you as a representative of all Americans living in your voting district: Reg # USA---------- Voting Disttrict Code: VDC------- And because I will be sharing your opinions with my colleagues in the House, and of course with President Bush. . . . your answers, compiled with those of other concerned citizens, will help us chart a new course for America's future in the coming months and years. More importantly, your answers will be used by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) to build public support for President George W. Bush's Agenda -- especially his plan to defend our nation and rebuild our economy. President Bush has said, fighting the war on terror, rebuilding our military and national security forces and revitalizing our economy will take a sustained commitment over several years. But right now there are many different opinions on Capitol Hill about how we should accomplish this mission. And there are vast differences between the two parties on how we should best solve the critical issues facing our nation. While our Republican margins have grown, there is still a strong liberal bloc that continues to fight the President every step of the way -- threatening to obstruct efforts to cut taxes, reduce illegal immigration and pass an Amendment to protect the sanctity of marriage. Worse yet, Democrats and left-wing groups like MoveOn.org continue to try and undermine President Bush and Republican efforts to enact real and lasting reform. The radical left wing of the Democrat Party is already reorganizing after their humiliating defeat in November. Their goal is to orchestrate a nationwide Public Relations campaign to smear the Republican Agenda over the next 24 months. In addition, Hollywood's ultra liberal elite created a special group to oppose President Bush's foreign policy -- they fought him every step of the way on the liberation of Iraq and they will continue to fight him on the War on Terror. So you can see why I am very worried that the President will not get the support he needs -- especially over the long haul. That's why it is critical that the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) build public support for President Bush immediately. And that's why I ask you to complete your enclosed Survey on America's Future. Do you support taking preemptive action against terrorists who are scheming and plotting attacks against America and our allies? And what are your thoughts on America's immigration policies? Should they be revised so that the government knows where foreign nationals are at all times? Should President Bush's tax cuts be made permanent? And which taxes have the most harmful effect on you personally -- the marriage penalty tax? Estate Tax? Capital Gains Tax? Party leaders and my colleagues in the House, Senate and White House need to know your views on issues like these. So even if you are undecided about some questions, it is imperative you return your completed Survey on America's Future in the next 7 days to ensure we get ample and accurate results. And when you return your Survey, won't you also enclose a contribution of $500, $250, $100, $50, $35 or even $25 to the NRCC? As you know, the President's Republican Majority in the House is strong but narrow -- in fact, it is just 14 seats. After their embarrassment in the 2004 elections, you can bet the liberal activists will be coming after our Republican Majority next time around. So we really need your completed Survey and your most generous contribution. Over the next several months the NRCC is planning to build unprecedented PUBLIC SUPPORT for President Bush. We will be working both to carry out the President's agenda and to protect and expand our slim Republican majority in 2006 so that the President can count on us over the long-haul. The NRCC is planning to conduct grassroots "PR" activities in targeted congressional districts nationwide. And we have budgeted millions for this campaign to counter the democrats and push our Agenda forward. But we need your advice and support. So please, use the enclosed SECURITY ENVELOPE to return your support for President Bush. And when you return your survey, please also help the NRCC begin implementing President Bush's Agenda for America and work towards the critical mid-term elections by making a contribution of $500.....or even $25. In 2004, the NRCC fought the toughest and most expensive campaign in its history. And thanks in large measure to your unselfish generosity, we were able to offset the massive amount of liberal special interest money that was poured into the 2004 campaign to defeat Republicans. We not only kept our majority, but because of your support, we were able to expand it. But over the next 2 years, the liberal Democrats will do everything in their power to take back our House Majority and embarrass President Bush in the '06 mid-term elections. Ultra-liberal and outside special interest grouops to implement a more negative campaign plan. And because the two parties have such different approaches to solving our nation's problems and the liberal activists are up in arms, I am deeply worried that the President will not continue to have the consistent support he needs to finish the job if we lose public support over the next few months. That's why the President needs you now and why he needs his Republican Majority in the House of Representatives reelected in 2006. So please return your completed Survey on America's Future and your contribution to the NRCC of $500...$25. And please let me hear from you in the next 7 days. Your completed survey and your contribution are important. After you have taken care of your family's needs and helped the charities you regularly support, won't you please send a contribution with your completed survey? We need your input as we struggle to make the right policy decisions to solve our country's most pressing problems. And we need your financial support to make sure we protect and expand our House Majority so President Bush has the votes he needs to pass his agenda and continue defending America. Thank you.
