Demographically, what is the Democratic base?
The Democratic base. We hear a lot about it, but what is it? Who is part of it?

Judging by election results, we may surmise the following:

In terms of gender: Women are more likely to vote Democratic than are men.

In terms of race: Minorities are more likely to vote Democratic than are whites.

In terms of age: Younger voters are more likely to vote Democratic than older voters.

In terms of location: Voters in urban areas are more likely to vote Democratic than voters in rural areas.

In terms of religion: Non churchgoers or those who rarely attend church are more likely to vote Democratic than are regular churchgoers.

There are many demographic areas where we beat - sometimes narrowly, other times by huge margins - the Republicans. There are still others where there is the definite potential for beating Republicans.

Who are the people who comprise the Dem base? And who are the leaners? The Republicans have learned to recognize their solid supporters and their leaners. They've come up with ways to reach those voters which, I must admit, are creative.

So the question becomes this: Once we determine who our voters are - and who might be willing to vote for us - how do we reach them? What creative ways do we pursue?

I just want to get everyone's thoughts.

2. Not sure
I'd guess that if would break down like this:

1) Women since they gain the most compared to Republicians ideas.
2) Minorities and those who understands multiculturalism.
3) Middle-class, working class, and few liberal upper class.
4) Those that either graduated or attend college or never attended college but is well-read.
5) Liberal religious (including non-Christians) that may or may not attend church regularly.
