The PR campaign for SS "privatization" begins with the "polls"... |
|
This is day one:
MSNBC comes out with the first poll - meant to lend credibility to Bush's plan (which there is no plan) - and the numbers must be very heartening for the propaganda branch of the White House. One of the reporters (Bob Kur?) for MSNBC reports that 51% disagree with Bush's plan and 43% agree. 43% agree! That's almost half.
This could be day 5:
The number of people that agree with Bush on SS "reform" has gone up slightly. The latest "poll" shows that 45% agree with him.
This could be day 30:
For the first time, the nation is split on whether or not Bush's plan to reform SS is a good or bad idea. The latest "poll" show that 50% agree and 50% disagree with Bush.
This could be day 90:
The latest polls show overwhelming support for some type of reform of Social Security. This is seen as a victory for the White House. The most recent MSNBC poll shows 55% of people polled now support changing the Social Security system. Republicans up for re-election are breathing a sigh of relief.
The meaning of the story:
We are going to let some illegitimate "poll" determine whether or not we keep or destroy Social Security. My most recent "poll" says the MSM can kiss my ass.

That's exactly what the game is......
Remember, Hastert says that this is the kickoff of "a 60 day campaign" to promote the pResident's plan (or, more specifically, NONPLAN).
Wake up Democrats!!!!
Sound the alarm! We're being manipulated AGAIN....
CALL TO BATTLE!!!!

2. We need to take notes on the reporters that report these "polls".. |
|
I'm sure many of them only read what they are told. But they are being used tot he detriment of us all - by the corporate media. Just like they sold the war with "polls". Remember when 80% agreed with Bush plan ot invade Iraq, according to their latest poll? Polling is terribly abused. It has become the primary means of propagandizing.
