1. "uniquely American" - sarcastic joke
Dear Mermaid,

I suppose you mean this in a sarcastic way?!

Why would we need to be "uniquely anything". Aren´t we living in modern times where light starts to enlighten the brains and hearts of people in a manner that boarders between nations break up and brotherhood spreads in the world?

"All the world needs are examples of people capable of living out their dreams and fighting for their ideas."

2. I Do Mean It Sarcastic, But Not In The Way You Are Implying
It's a reference to something Bush said, in a Social Security town hall to a single mother who works three jobs.

He fucking laughed at her, then said..."uniquely American, isn't it?" then he fucking laughed at her again and asked, "do you get any sleep?"

What a fucking asshole!!

My point is...we need to keep hammering home how much an asshole the Pretzeldent is...and how little he gives a fuck about the plight of the average person.

3. I was not aware of that exchange...
I am not a hateful person----but it amazes me that, yes, I can "hate" that smarmy bastard even more.

5. Though I'm no diagnostician ..
I bet you are right.
I think a Dr. Stout, from Harvard, just published a book about sociopaths among us... I need to look it up...

9. He can be called a sociopath
and has been called it by several experts. I think he is also a clinical narcissist. Type in Bush and sociopath into Google and see what you find.

8. I don't think he was laughing at her
Don't get me wrong- I'm no chimp defender. However, when I read that quote in a larger article when he first said it, it revealed no malice but oblivious elitism. He was speaking with a woman who mentioned that she had three jobs. It was a "Let them eat cake" moment for him because it revealed that the concept of HAVING TO WORK was beyond him. His reaction with all of the joking was based on the concept that she must be extremely hardworking and ambitious and WANTED to work three jobs. In his mind he wasn't belittling a struggle but commending her "uniquely American" work ethic. It shows just how clueless and out of touch he is with the normal people of this country despite all of the efforts to make him seem like a regular guy. Anyone who can't even comprehend having to work or do anything out of necessity rather than choice is nothing but an elitist snob. He can be a vicious prick quite often, but in this moment he was just a moron in the way that Paris Hilton never heard of Wal-Mart.

Exactly my point though. Can you imagine thinking of work as optional? I would love that.

It'd be a "nice hobby" for him when he retired.

15. bingo, I think you are right about this
he wasn't laughing at her hardship. He is just so elite that he has no idea what an ordinary persons life is like in this country.

That said, however, that is no excuse. He is president. His job is to work for and represent us. As such it is is job to know what ordinary American life is like.

6. I forgot about that one too. I wonder if after he leaves office if he
will have to be so scripted? I mean the truth will come out then will it not? Doesn't Karl Rove have to follow the man around for his whole life to 'protect the myth'? Or will they hire a team of handlers to stage-manage every aspect of his life from the day he leaves office?

What will he do when he leaves office? Will his library consist of news reels of people showing baser emotions on their faces instead of books & paper?

Will he go on a speaking tour? How hard will it be to make money when nobody else in the World will pay to hear him "speak"?

12. They will take care of him.
And he will be perfectly happy playing with his dogs and "clearing brush" on the ranch. :eyes:

The man is no Jimmy Carter. Don't expect any real accomplishments.

16. I don't think that they are concerned with accomplishments, but rather -
how can they protect the "myth", that Bush had any brains and/or spoke any of his own words.
