You never know what will happen when you speak your mind.
I was loading mulch into my wife's van (a four cylinder-not a gas guzzler) this afternoon at the local Publix when an older gentleman stopped and asked me how their price was in relation to Home Depot. I told him that I stopped shopping at Home Depot when they put Tom Ridge on their board of directors. He hadn't heard that before, but launched into a tirade about the government including that he was 70 years old, an 11th generation American, that he was sick of what was happening to our country, that if people thought he was anti-American that was tough and he is considering moving to Costa Rica or Mexico.

1. A hell of a lot of WWII vets are on to them...
They lived through the great depression, maybe ate meals of shoe leather, fought in WWII, built the suburbs, raised the boomers to raise the roof and they ARE NOT BEING FOOLED!

They understand better than most of us younger folk what real deprivation is, and the true value of Social Security, unemployment insurance, the 40 hour work week, usury laws, labor unions, environmental protection, etc etc etc.

May as many of them as possible stick around long enough to help us win one more battle.

2. A person who is 70 now would have been 10 or 11 years old
when World War II ended. A person who was 18 when Pearl Harbor was attacked would be 82. The "greatest generation" is older than most of us think.

3. don't forget Korea
Many of the older people on my street in their 70s froze their butts off bringing democracy to Korea in the fifties.

4. And then there was Viet Nam.
A relative of mine who's now 72 was a helicopter pilot in 'Nam, got shot in the head (still alive and well, thanks to a super kind of helmet they developed), retired from the military and is now a Bush supporter. Go figure. My spouse joined the Army in '53, did his time, went on to OTS, then was in the Nat'l Guard for many years. I live in fear he'll be called back--he's 70 now. He has no use for Bush or any of his policies. Nice to hear there are those his age who see the truth!

5. "Bringing democracy to Korea?" I don't think many folks in
North Korea would agree.
