Just a matter of curiosity but what was the voter turn out in Iowa?
Was the democrat turnout higher or lower than normal years? Does anyone have those results?

2. I heard 3% caucased.
Ridiculous huh. They go to each and every county and only 3% bother to go out. They don't deserve the honor.

4. Does that mean that only 3% of Iowa's dems turned out to vote?
Is that standard or is this an off year?

3. I think they said about 122,000
As far as crossovers and independents, no official numbers, but the entrance poll data says 1% Repub, 19% independent.

5. That's what I recall
The evening of the caucus I was watching C-Span and the process at a particular causus. I was so disappointed in the process. It appeared that those conducting the caucus were not sure what to do and the participants sure didn't. It appeared a person could be persuaded to vote one way on one issue and another later. Then I heard the amount of people participating and wondered what the population of Iowa was. Is it around 3 million? And only 100 thousand plus participated? Seems a vote is more democratic and accurate.

I too heard 122,000 which is over twice as much as 2000 but not quite the 125,000 claimed to have turned out it 1988. In any event, its a stunning turnout so please stop slamming Iowa. Respect the results!

13. There is no slamming Iowa. I'm trying to guage...
about how the GE will turn out. If only 100,000 showed up, and that is suppose to be a "good number" then how many will show up for the GE? The reason I ask is that I would hope to have an above average turn out to show our disgust with bush in every state. I just ask about Iowa since it was first.

6. The turnout was highter than ususal. They credit Dean with bringing in new
voters, but they didn't stick with him unfortunately. I do think he's been good for the party and the coming election regardless..

10. Dean wasn't the only one to bring in new caucus goers, I suspect
Bush is highly unpopular. That helps, too.

12. Bush & competitive 4-man race
resulted in high turnout. Dean certainly was a part of that but turnout would have been high in any event. Remember turnout was no greater than it was in 1988. All lot of the folks turning out were not in fact new voters, rather they turn out when there is a race they get excited about.

8. Tvtalkingheads referred to 'record turnout'.
Don't know if that's amount vs pct.

9. Turnout was about 125,000
They were expecting about 100,000. I heard that the 125K was twice as high as what turned out in 2000.
