Chimpy coming to Kentucky, I swallowed my sarcasm and asked |
|
for tickets. Chimpy and his buttboy, McConnell, will be in Louisville on Thursday, March 10th to lie to the public again about Social Security. I have contacted Buttboy's office and very politely told them that I was very interested in the Social Security proposals, that I am of an age that I need more information and could I please have tickets to attend the speech.
I thought my fingers were going to rot off just pretending to be nice to this bunch but thought it was worth a shot. I don't expect to get tickets although I had to try. I'll keep you posted if I manage to storm the gates of hell and get in. Can only imagine it will be akin to sitting through a KKK meeting - so much hate, so many lies, so little time.
If I don't get in the door I will plan on being outside to protest. There is a meeting on the 9th to organize and make signs.

5. Yes, I registered Dem, have never voted for Buttboy in my life |
|
but, hey, I took a shot. Buttboy is up for re-election next year, he'll be doing some heavy duty pandering between now and then. Thought he might think he could win me over to the dark side.

9. That's actually the way to go |

When you live in a republican district, there isn't alot of point in sending hostile letters and phone calls. Better to write calm thoughtful letters that imply you are a friendly but worried about a particular issue. They do pay attention to letters but they get classified by their interpretation of the writers overall position. If you come across as someone who might vote for them, but you are "concerned" about some particular issue, it influences them. Of course HOW it influences them may not be how you'd like. It can merely have them adjusting their "message".
I'm crafting a letter to my repug right now on SS. My aim is to support their concerns about how this is selling and imply that all the things Bush will talk about are the VERY things that bother me. My primary focus is something along the line of "change is bad", "SS has always been there", "bigger things to change first" that kind of message. Working on a similar one for the up coming tax reform move. Got a working line that goes something like "We all want lower taxes, I just don't want lower taxes by raising someone elses". Also trying to figure out how to do the "consumption" angle too. Something like "consumption for most of us is just things we need, not luxuries.".

try to wear a wire. I would love to hear how they instruct all the kool-aid drinkers on how to grovel before the mighty chimperor. You know, what you can ask and how you can ask it...what am I saying, you've already given yourself away by being able to actually THINK about the subject. Oh well, nice try!

13. A commissioner in North Dakota was denied tickets. She was on "a list". |
|
I think she was a county commissioner, or some thing like that. She's progressive, and in fact helped start something called the Prairie Progressives. But they let her in when it became public. This was on Ed Schultz last week. :D
Good luck.
