It makes me want to SCREAM.....
Politics ain't beanbag. All is fair in love, war, and politics...etc..etc. :) Politics is a lot like a chess game. In other ways, it is a full contact sport. It is not for the faint-hearted.

But, in my opinion, politics is mostly about connecting with the psychology of the most people at any given time. Perhaps you can connect with a truth that had not yet been in their consciousness? Perhaps you can connect with them out of passion? Perhaps you can connect with them on a personal level?

But it is different trying to connect with a large number of people, as opposed to one or two. There has to be an innate sense that what you are saying is important to these people but no one else has been talking about it. If you can connect with the most people, you will win the most votes. It is a complex game.

1. Hey, this country elected George W. Bush, didn't it?
How the hell did he connect with so many people???!?

Maybe politics is more like a personality contest. Or homecoming king. Or high school.

Look at Gore/Bush. Doesn't it basically come down to the old junior high mentality of picking on and chastising the smart kids and elevating the dumb jocks?

4. So true.
Ok, how about "how did he get 49% of the vote!"

:)

5. 49% of what?
What was the total percentage that voted? Obviously he connected with enough to seem credible to his supporters. Democrats need to connect.

6. Did you read my post? It seemed pretty obvious what I meant.
"49% of the vote"

I was asking how it was possible for Bush to have gotten 49% of the vote in the last election. To be accurate, it was only 48.5%.

What's your point?

3. Boxster wins
Most have never elevated themselves emotionally past 8th grade. It has been fashionalble to be immature in Amerika.
