Divide the Dem party? Maybe it needs to be divided so that we can
separate real Dems from fake Dems. But I fear it is too late to save this country. People are much too comfortable and at ease.

1. I don't think it's that simple a problem or solution...
I was extremely skeptical of Reid, particularly based on him being pro-life and from a red state. But he has most definitely impressed me. I think he is doing his damndest to run a tight ship and keep things in line. But you've got people like the Joes (Biden and Leiberman) who are more concerned with getting their own national press and hype machine going. I don't think it's a matter of real or fake dems as much as it is Dems who put their self interest and their ego before the good of the dem party or the country.

5. A real dem...
Is someone who agrees 100% on every issue with the person who makes the "real dem" judgment, a fake dem is someone who might have a slight to moderate difference of opinion who therefore deserves to be banished to the netherworld of Jesusland.

4. I'm a fake.
I'm not really much of a Dem at all. I've never voted in a Democratic primary. Mostly, I'm an ardent civil libertarian who is adamantly opposed to the rise of the religious right, and its influence on GOP social policy. Because of that, I will now fight the Republicans at the ballot box, in the blogs, and on the ramparts.

Anyways, now that you've uncovered me as a fake, to which corner would you like to send me?

6. I'm locking this.
The potential for positive, constructive discussion in this thread is, at best, limited.
