Let's make hydrogen engines and use that. We could cut our dependance on OPEC greatly. If we recycled plastic more and used a different material for it's base, we'd cut OPEC's influence even more.

8. Where d'ya supose the hydrogen will come from? |
|
The oceans are full of the stuff, right? Two parts hydrogen to one part oxygen. But the only hydrogen that Bush and his cronies are interested in comes from HYDROcarbons. Yup, oil. Look at their hydrogen policy with more than just a cursory glance and you'll see the catch, and it's not really even in the fine print.
Oil men will be oil men.

2. What else is ironic.... |
|
...the more we conserve, the more the cost goes up. One of the points of conservation is to keep costs down. Just because the energy companies want to make more money and can get away with it.

4. But ANWR crude won't do us any good. |
|
1. Very limited supply (relative to our consumption, even to just our imports) 2. The sulfur content and the viscosity, vapor pressure, open and closed cup ignition properties, etc. are "incompatible" with West Coast refineries --- which are (over)optimized for Indonesian crude.
WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PRACTICE "CREATIVE ENGINEERING" = higher CAFE standards, more alternatives and renewables.
Duh, it's called "CREATIVE ENGINEERING"
-I are a injunear. :dunce:

5. I noticed that coincidence |
|
Reminded me of the blackouts, failing grid, blah, blah, etc., that got better as soon as the Chimperor's crooked buddies got billions of taxpayer money. Kind of like the threat to nuke a city has disappeared along with the Big Dick since the election is over...
