ABC NEWS: Dean Diane Sawyer interview highlights
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 06:29 PM by ringmastery

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/Primetime/US/howard_judy_dean_040122-1.html

As a counterpoint, he said: "Last time I went to a hockey game, my son got an assist on the first goal, I went 'yahoo,' and jumped up in the air. That's presidential? Probably not. So, I'm a dad, I'm a human being, I'm going to keep being a dad and a human being.

"I am who I am," said Dean. "And, I am going to be who I am? I'm the outside-the-Beltway guy. I don't play by the same rules the people inside the Beltway. I put my heart on my sleeve. I let people know who I am."

1. listening to the ABC news version
it sounds a lot like the defense he used on the morning shows the morning after... i think his emphatic 'it wasnt presidential' was bad.

it's odd... he defends it, embraces it, and pushes himself away from it.

2. this has been a big day for Dr. Dean...his performance this afternoon...
the 20/20 interview will certainly go a long way to show who Dr Dean really is and maybe people will be "reconnected" instead of these "gottcha tabloid shots".

The real test is the debate...he just has to hold to his own and the damage control will be very much on it way.

He had some good people in state "stumping with him" and 4 days is a long time in this campaign.

He can do it.

5. Yeah, Dean Can Do It!
Too bad Wellstone wasn't around to defend himself from the freakin' media after his memorial!

8. Hear, hear!
Dean was impressive on the excerpt on ABC news tonight. Sleazy Dianne was trying to make him look bad, and she was the one who ended up looking bad.

3. I just watched this on ABC World News Tonight...
... and I have to say, good job, so far.

Dean is humanized in the piece, and I think Judy comes off as especially sympathetic. I'm not certain the appearance will help him very much, but watching it, I really felt for him, and you know, I really believed him.

9. I don't want to see pictures of soldiers with their legs blown off
Could we put this in persepctive. Over 500 soldiers dead, a record number of suicides in Iraq, thousands of soldiers wounder, tens of thousands of Iraqis killed in the invasion, 87 Billion dollars (at least ) going to rebuild a country we destroyed.

And Howard Dean screamed.

I'm shocked. Absolutely shocked.

12. Why, because they told you that is what you should think?
It is a political campaign--he was rallying his troops--His supporters, who probably worked with such commitment, most likely annoyed many Iowans in their enthusiasm, were stunned and exhausted. To kick people like that when they are down is cruel and gross, considering how many put their hopes in a political grassroots movement. Dean was addressing them (and me) with a message of determination, when he himself must have been crestfallen. So you can stuff it and go look for an aloof, passionless and monotone candidate who could care less about the people who devote themselves to re awaking citizen participation in the process.

10. Well
From what I saw, it's not going to HELP him any.

When Dianne Sawyer asked his wife "HAS HE EVER LOST HIS TEMPER AROUND YOU" I cringed.

Dean just LOOKS MEAN and no matter how much you put him on television, it's not going to help him. Besides, his wife looks like she wants to run and hide. I think she's extremely shy, but when Sawyer asked that question, it made Dean look worse...

13. Christ
You want to start talking about Kerry's horseface? Clark never blinking? Edward's tigerbeat?

There is a retard in the whitehouse who looks like an idiot and I am sure he appreciates you spreading the word for him about how bad our side looks.
