over this Schiavo thing and the annual rite of blood for the religiously insane
and now Sci Fi is playing all alien invasion and infiltration movies all day and we have Invasion of the Body Snatchers
I'm thinking maybe this whole neotheocon death cult thing is an alien invasion!

If it's the 1978 Donald Sutherland version, it's a brilliant and terrifying film. Watch it!

But the original is still a decent film, if a bit dated.
What's great about the story is that you can use it as a metaphor for many things, and that you can re-tell it every decade to reflect whatever's relevant at the time.

Rowdy Roddy Piper taking on alien Republicans who can only be seen with special sunglasses. A true cult classic and a must see for anyone who loves political satire.
