Jonathan Chait: The Draft Cheney movement is about to surface
In the summer of 2000, Dick Cheney was appointed to find a vice presidential candidate for George W. Bush, and, as we now know, the winner of the search turned out to be Dick Cheney.

Today, Republicans are casting about for a successor to Bush. And the winner of that search just may turn out to be ... Dick Cheney.

The Draft Cheney movement is burbling just below the surface. Fred Barnes suggested it earlier this month in the Weekly Standard. Tod Lindberg of the Washington Times and Lawrence Kudlow of National Review Online echoed Barnes in columns this week.

Cheneymania has reached critical mass.

3. I wonder how it'd go
First they started Rice and now Cheney. Cheney has said over and over he's not going to run (I guess his health) but then again I wouldn't believe them for anything. I still think in two years Halliburton will start moving in Iraq so there would be no reason for him to be president. He could easily go back to work for Halliburton and enjoy the cash flow for his retirement with Lynne.

9. I Can't Give You Time & Date, But
I heard on C-Span that JEB isn't going to run. And now, with the Schiavo thing, it may be the ball-breaker. By the time The EEEIIIdiot's term is over, and if they keep going as they are, maybe, just maybe the Bush name may be spelled MUD. My little take on USA! M.U.D. -- Merikans Under Dipshit! Two Dipshits, I live in Florida!

5. Doesn't the 22nd amendment prevent a person from serving 3 terms as
POTUS? He will already have served 2 as the puppet master / actual power behind the throne.

10. Poppy got away with it.
He was President from 1980-1992.

Though Reagan at least played the role more convincingly than the Chimp.

And he doesn't have 'other priorities'

Oh well, at least we'll know his 'bulge' is a strap-on defibrillator.

12. Drafting Cheney is an EXCELLENT idea
Congress could have a special weekend session to amend all of the armed forces rules and requirements, commission him as a major & get him on the next C-17 to Iraq.

I'm sure Major Dick would straighten out everybody in no time.

13. I think Satan has more charisma than Cheney
If he runs at least the country will see the real face of evil as opposed to that of the impish, fun loving gw (per the NY Times)

That will be real truth in advertising.
