Poll question: Jerry Falwell's undisclosed hospitalization: Should we take the high road?
Some posts here on DU say heart attack, some say otherwise, here is a snippet of the AP article....

----------------------------------------------------------------
LYNCHBURG, Virginia (AP) -- A month after battling pneumonia, the Rev. Jerry Falwell was hospitalized again Tuesday for an undisclosed medical problem, his ministry said.

"I can tell you he is in the hospital and he is resting, and that is all I know," said Jessica Tucker of Jerry Falwell's Ministries.

Falwell, 71, is the founder of the Moral Majority and chancellor of Liberty University, which he also founded.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

So the poll question is: Should we take the high road when discussing Jerry Falwell's major hospitalization.

9. Exactly; I vote to take the high road too
He's sick now, so I would prefer to take the high road and leave him alone.

However, if/when he shoots off his mouth again, he is fair game.

And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way - all of them who have tried to secularize America - I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."

8. Other. This minor issue does not require our unity.
We do need to stick together on major issues... like elections, judicial appointments, social policy, and such.

But I say let everyone take the road they want on this one. A little variety from us would be a good thing to keep the opposition guessing. Get them all confused as to what to argue against.

Put them in a damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't no-win position. Let some of us attack them for being too soft. Let some others attack them for being to firm.

They do the same to us.

And why would that be the case for a Pharisee who has used the teachings of Jesus Christ like toilet paper?

13. What is the high road?
Saying nice things about him? Saying I'm sorry he's in the hospital, and I hope he recovers? No, I can't do that, nor can I rejoice for he is a human being.

But I'm sick to death of taking the high road and getting our teeth kicked in. We're engaged in a war for survivial. Don't ever forget that.

14. Who are you going to impress by taking the high road?
If it makes you feel better, then go for it, but all the Freepers and the MSM are only going to pull out negativity and amplify it for their purposes no matter what is said. Might as well give them something witty and truly reflective of how much better we feel the country will be without Falwell on the airwaves.

16. Taking the "high-road" would certainly provide us with more
momentum when we jump off to land (then dance) on his grave.

(Just joking. I don't wish the man ill, but profoundly recognize the pain he has caused many and the potential damage he may have done to the species by claiming the green-house effect is the result of liberal scientists engaged in junk science.)

18. Other for me...
I am personally trying to take a higher road, even though I utterly despise the man, but I will never tell someone else that they cannot express their feelings as they see fit. I'm a big fan of free speech across the board.

If someone wants to express their prayers for him and his family or for their desire for Falwell to rot in hell for eternity, I will not try to stiffle either expression.

And, btw, damn what the Freepers think of us.

21. High Road - ALL The Way
And while those of you who pray ask God for his speedy physical recovery, also pray that he sees the error of his hypocritical ways.

Pray that if he does have a near death experience and comes close to God that God tells him he has so much wrong.

Of course, and I hate being cynical after voting for High Road, but it is more likely Falwell will claim to have had a near death experience and a meeting with God in which God told him the day of judgement was imminent and we had all best repent, and use it to further advance his own twisted agenda.

Crap, I wish I could change my vote.

25. So taking out a bounty on the doctor who saves his life is
out? We can't scare his family with death threats? We can't picket the hospital where he is waiting for him to kick the bucket? Can't hassle the other patients' visitors in a demand to push our view on them? Liberals can't get on TV 24/7 arguing how he should be taken off all machines? We should just let him get the best possible medical care available (unlike millions of uninsured Americans) and let him and his family made decisions for his care? Damn. I knew being principled and moral would bite me in the ass one day.

High road, this guy is already so low he is using Satan's zip code.

23. Other. What some see as the high road...
... praying for Falwell, for example... strikes me as the worst kind of self-aggrandizement. Sanctimonious posturing.

Should we post a zillion threads saying every mean thing we can think of? No.

But neither should we delude ourselves into thinking there is something "low" or wrong about feeling relief that this evil man may finally be removed from the world.

26. Take the "high road?"
Whatever-

As far as I'm concerned- I wish him EVERY BIT of suffering that he wishes on- and has worked HARD to impose on others.

I don't have the slightest bit of pity for the man.
