CALLING YOUR SENATORS: I want to start a thread with samples here.
Hey everyone. In reference to this post about Kerry's letter asking you to call your senator...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=1699358&mesg_id=1699358

I want to start another thread with samples and ideas as to what to say to your senator. This way we can check facts, spelling, grammar, etc. so we can send a clear message that we know what the hell we are talking about.....

----------Here is what I am going to tell my Senator, please feel free to USE!!!!-----------
----------Can you check mine for facts, spelling, grammar?------

Hello Senator _______,

I am _________, a voting constituent for __________, __
I have receieved information about Sen. Maj. Leaders Bill Frist's
push to make it nearly impossible for the democratic party to filibuster the confirmation of judges.

I would like to remind you that this sets a very dangerous precedent, not only for the people of this country
and here in __state__, but also for future judicial nominations both Democratic and Republican.

As you already know, there is an ebb and flow in politics, and the Republican party may find itself with a minority
and the Democratic party with a majority in any of the chambers of our congress.

Filibustering is a power that is needed by both parties when a dangerous nomination or legislation
is at focus, because it provides essential checks and balances for those weaker in number.

We are in a very politically precarious time where currently 80% of the nation feels that government is
intervening in the lives of everyday Americans. By not allowing filibustering, it will only send a
reinforced message that congress will continue to push an intervening agenda on the populace.

I urge you to consider this not as a Republican, but as an American, and weigh the legacy that such a decision this
will make for Americans now and in the future.

Thank you.
