How about an Edwards-Spitzer ticket? |
|
I know.. it's too early to talk about '08 and I generally try not to. But what the hell - this just occurred to me today and I think it could be a great ticket.
Now, I'm not declaring support for it - I'm not making up my mind whom I'll support until at least '07 or even early '08. I could conceivably support Edwards, Feingold, Kerry (if he runs again), Warner, Hillary, even Bayh.
But what do you guys think about a John Edwards-Eliot Spitzer ticket? (Yeah, Spitzer'll just have 2 years on him as guv, but he'd still be quite valuable)

1. Spitzer is too smart to abandon |
|
the post so soon after winning it (assuming of course that he does win it). If he's got a national political career, it's not going to get seriously under way until after he's had a full term as Governor.

Candidate wins two terms Spitzer could be a VP on that 2016 ticket or god forbid if we lose in 08 Spitzer and Obama would probably be the top 2 candidates in 2012

5. Well, I like both those people a lot. |
|
Edwards is a talented politician and a sincere human being, not to mention his wife Elizabeth, who is a luminescent star in my opinion.
Spitzer will be at work in New York and I betcha New Yorkers ain't gonna let him go. I think he's going to SMASH Pataki and bring a lot of good energy to Democratic politics in the Empire State.
Doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good VP, but I just don't think New Yorkers are willing to give him up so soon.
I think the Party needs to think about not only 2006 and 2008, but launch a long-term organizational grassroots trajectory into a 16-year plan. We need to hold power longer than just one election to the next.

than her husband. Spitzer yes! Maybe someone like Schweitzer of Montana (a real rancher against a fake cowboy would have been interesting in 2004): http://dailykos.com/story/2005/3/14/145914/805Spitzer/Schweitzer is a mouthful though.

9. Spitzer said Dean was "too liberal" (AS IF!) back in 2003. |
|
So hell no to him.He can go rot in NY and I frankly hope he doesnt win a state race there , because I know it will make him a "hot prospect" for some future election. Might be the best thing for this nation as a whole to see him loose in NY as it could bury his career early on.
Edwards in 08?
Sure , he can run against Dole in his home state in 08. Ill support him.
For a national race , HELL NO!
