Just in case people have not heard Russ Feingold is getting a divorce. Does anyone think Feingold's divorce will hurt his chances of running for president in 2008?

1. Yes - because it's not his first divorce. One is okay .. but two??? |

3. Maybe harmful-it's too early to tell. |
|
It depends on what is revealed about the causes of the divorce.

My answer is NO. Too many Republicans are divorced.

especially this close to '08--Reagan, Dole, and Kerry's divorces all occured many years prior to their running for president. Even the local papers this morning said it might adversely affect his decision to run in 2008.

7. If divorce is now a no no to the left then what the heck..... |

.... are we doing worrying about the much moe contriversal issue of abortion all the time for.
Heck we say we care about the radical issue of same-se marriage but it sound to me like people on the left are now more conservative on hetero marriage than even the Pope all the sudden.
Granted it just a case of hypocricy and an excuse to avoide voting for the most progressive Presidential candidate ever (DLC is really scared because he is also the most electable and by far the most skilled politicican who also happens to be IN TOUCH with average Americans on almost every issue)but it still stinks.
Heck, Feingold is the only one who noticed that average Americans simply have no respect for the "assault" weapons ban even if they respect gun control.I know I can talk to average Americans (well I am one but Im refering to hard right and moderate ones)and talk about almost any issue except the Assault Weapons Ban and get ridiculed like you wouldnt know. They all say the same thing...." this is legislation that a bunch of big city pencil necks dont even understand........ the only difference between these 'assault weaponns' and legal weapons is cosmetic".
Thank God Feingold actually did something the other candidates dont seem capable of, talking to average Joes.
I think ALL guns should be banned FYI but as long as guns are legal then we shouldnt be ticking so many people off over stupid legislation.

Given the number of divorced people in America they will end up insulting over 50% of voters.
The radical conservatives would not have voted for anyone running as a democrat anyway - independents and moderate republicans won't care unless there is serious additional baggage.

10. I think it ends his chances |

And it isn't the morality aspect, it's the judgment. If you can't make good decisions in your personal life, how good a job will you do in public life?

11. I think time will tell. |

Most likely being Unmarried might be more of a detrement than having had 2 divorces. Yet if he marries....that would make him Trice married, which might appear worse than twice divorced.
So the question might be, will he find a wife and marry her in 4 years' time? Also, will there be any gossip if he chooses who he chooses...depending on the bride; did he pick her because she appeared Presidential wife material; etc..., etc...
The Enquirer might have a field day with his dating choices in the meantime.
It's not a good thing what's happening to Feingold...but then, divorce seldom is.
