Putting your money where your mouth is.
Earlier today, I had the opportunity to take work from the Relgious Right, and their machine. I passed.

Below, is what I said to the developers I turned down at the group that makes sites for O'Reilly, Medved, Bennet and so on....

They're on http://www.noxsolutions.com , just in case you think I'm kidding...

Payam,

Thanks for your response. I'll try to address your questions:

> Are you familiar with JSP's?

ASP, JSP, PHP; they're all includes that do pretty much the same thing; grab data, and display it in the right place - other than some
syntax, what's the difference, really?

> Have you ever done template development?

Yes.

> When can you start? And how many hours per week and per day can you > allocate to us?

I can start immediatly, and am flexible with how much I can devote to the operation.

> The work has to be done on site, are you ok with that?

I'm....well, I just looked at your site for the first time, just now. I can't work with you, and it's not the commute. It's that your client list represents...I'm trying to not be indelicate here...

I'm afraid that your clients represent the exact opposite of what I believe. Even though I need the work, I'd rather starve than make sites that serve the interests of professional demagogues and their pious brand of profitable, fake morality.

If you offered 10x as much money, I would still pass on the opportunity.

I appreciate your consideration in any event, Payam. Thanks anyway.

Best,

Dave

3. I was thinking about that, but realized...
...that I'd just flip out on them; I'm not very good at keeping my mouth shut when confronted by such bullshit...
