Students Harrassed by Military Recruiters |
|
An interesting moment in my wife's freshman English class yesterday, here at our regional U. She asked her students: "How many of you have been contacted by military recruiters?" They ALL raised their hands. In every case, they were called at home repeatedly by recruiters, within days of turning eighteen. One young woman was called so frequently that her parents got an unlisted phone number. Within four days, the calls resumed--to the unlisted number. These are mostly working-class kids, a majority of them are first-generation college students. Any teachers/parents/students out in DU-land experiencing this? Or is it just a local phenomenon?

Ask the editor of the stutent newspaper to open a special response email address, then submit your question to the student newspaper, asking responses be sent to that address.
