My nomination for best first sentence from a red state newspaper
editorial:

"George W. Bush will go down in the history books, for having led the country into war on false premises, jeopardized individual liberties, made America an international bully in the eyes of long-time allies, wrecked the federal budget, deserted conservative principles of governance, savaged the regulatory system, set back environmental progress and polarized the country even further."

2. That paper rocks! Their cartoonist just won a Pulitzer...
and I was sent a selection of his cartoons they put together after he won. He is very, very good -- and absolutely fearless!

5. The Courier-Journal has LONG been a progressive paper!
And this shows the false dichotomy between "red states" and "blue states." Contrary to popular belief, there IS intelligent life in the "red states."

Anybody who has read the C-J knows this.

6. Yeah, Louisvillian here too.
Democrats once owned this state. The Courier included. But like the rest of this country, the paper sold out to the big corporations years ago. However, the editorial staff has been, and likely will always be, very liberal. Thankfully.
